Restrictions Lifted: Luxury Disney Resort Returns To Normal Operations
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World Resort has officially lifted restrictions on shoppers at BouTiki, the Deluxe Disney Resort hotel’s largest merchandise location.
Starting on June 2, 2025, half of BouTiki was closed to allow for a mysterious refurbishment project. Located on the first floor of the Great Ceremonial House, the shop is a favorite stop for guests, offering tropical-themed apparel, exclusive Aulani merchandise, and classic Walt Disney World Resort souvenirs. After the month-long partial closure, the store returned to its normal operations with an updated merchandise selection on July 1.

According to photos shared by WDWMagic, the refurbishment of BouTiki involved replacing the floors, with new, refreshed patterned tiles and wooden flooring throughout the store. While Walt Disney World Resort did not disclose any further details on the scope of the construction project, the changes are likely a result of wear and tear from years of foot traffic.
In addition to BouTiki, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort guests can shop at Moana Mercantile on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House. This smaller merchandise location offers clothing and Aulani-inspired items, but also features pre-packaged snacks and kid-friendly souvenirs like plush and accessories. With both stores now fully operational, the shopping experience at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is back to normal.
It’s always a good idea to check the Walt Disney World Resort website before booking a Disney Resort hotel stay to stay updated on any construction or refurbishment projects that might impact your visit. While Disney cast members work hard to ensure minimal disruption to the guest experience, some operational impacts are unavoidable.
