Disney’s ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Is Escaping the Parks in 2027

Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is officially getting the immersive treatment, and honestly, this sounds much bigger than a simple movie-themed event.

A brand-new live experience inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean is heading to London in 2027, and based on the details released so far, guests are not just showing up to watch the story. They are stepping directly into it.

The upcoming production, called Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Immersive Adventure, is being created by Secret Cinema in partnership with Disney Theatrical Group and TodayTix. The limited-run event will open in February 2027 at Secret Cinema’s new flagship venue at Greenwich Peninsula in London.

For Disney fans who have ever wanted to wander through Tortuga, encounter pirates face-to-face, or board the Black Pearl themselves, this may be about as close as it gets without Disney building an entirely new theme park land.

And yes, there will apparently be sword fights.

According to reporting from Variety, the production will combine large-scale themed environments, live performances, interactive storytelling, stunt work, music, and audience participation into one fully immersive experience.

Instead of sitting in rows watching actors perform on stage, guests will move through pirate-inspired settings as the story unfolds around them.

Secret Cinema artistic director Merritt Baer described the event as featuring “epic aerial stunts, fearless swordfights and a cast of your favourite swashbuckling pirates,” while teasing locations like Tortuga and the Black Pearl itself.

Honestly, it sounds less like traditional theater and more like Disney built a live-action pirate movie around the audience.

And for fans of immersive entertainment, that is exactly the appeal.

The Original Pirates of the Caribbean Film Is the Main Inspiration

One thing longtime Disney fans will appreciate is that the production is specifically inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, the 2003 film that started the entire franchise phenomenon.

That movie introduced audiences to Captain Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swann, Will Turner, Captain Barbossa, and the cursed pirate crew aboard the Black Pearl.

It also helped transform a classic Disney attraction into one of the company’s most recognizable movie franchises.

There is something kind of perfect about where this all ended up.

The original film was inspired by the iconic ride at Disneyland Resort. Then the movie became a global blockbuster franchise. And now Disney is using that film world to create a fully immersive live event where fans can physically step inside the story.

It feels very Disney in the best way possible.

If you have never heard of Secret Cinema before, this is not your average movie screening company.

The group has built a huge following by turning movies and television series into large-scale interactive events where guests are encouraged to participate, explore, and even dress within the world of the story.

Some productions include themed food, hidden actors, interactive missions, detailed environments, and live performances that happen all around the audience.

According to the company, Secret Cinema has produced more than 60 immersive experiences over the past 15 years for over one million guests.

They have also worked with Disney-connected franchises before, including Star Wars and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

So while the pirate concept may sound ambitious, this is very much the type of thing Secret Cinema specializes in.

Disney Keeps Moving Toward More Interactive Entertainment

Disney has clearly been leaning harder into immersive storytelling across almost every part of the company lately.

Inside the parks, lands like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge already encourage guests to feel like active participants instead of passive observers. Interactive hotel experiences, themed dining, character encounters, and live entertainment have all started blending together more than ever before.

This new Pirates of the Caribbean production feels like another extension of that strategy.

Disney Theatrical Group executive Angelo Desimini explained that the company is actively looking for “bold new ways” to expand storytelling into immersive shared experiences.

He also noted that Pirates of the Caribbean naturally lends itself to that format because of its adventure, music, and iconic characters.

And honestly, he has a point.

The pirate world already feels chaotic, theatrical, and interactive by design. Turning it into a live environment where audiences can move through the action almost feels overdue.

This Could Easily Become a Disney Vacation Add-On

Even though the experience is launching in London rather than inside a Disney park, there is a very good chance Disney fans will build trips around it.

That already happens constantly with Disney-related events. Fans travel internationally for park anniversaries, exclusive festivals, special entertainment runs, and limited-time experiences.

A 10-week immersive Pirates of the Caribbean event absolutely fits into that category.

For some travelers, especially international Disney fans, this could become part of a larger London vacation in the same way people build trips around West End theater productions or major conventions.

And because the run is limited, tickets may become competitive pretty quickly once sales open.

Tickets Go on Sale Next Year

Tickets for Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Immersive Adventure officially go on sale June 1, 2026.

Right now, anticipation already seems high among Disney fans, immersive theater audiences, and honestly anyone who has ever wanted to feel like they accidentally wandered into the middle of a pirate battle.

And if the production delivers on the details already teased, this may end up becoming one of Disney’s most talked-about entertainment collaborations outside the parks.

Because really, how often do fans get the chance to walk through Tortuga, hear live pirate music, dodge sword fights, and board the Black Pearl in the same night?

If you have experienced one of Secret Cinema’s previous productions before, we definitely want to hear about it. Disney fans online are already trying to figure out just how wild this thing could get once it officially opens in London.
