Walt Disney World’s future is becoming increasingly ambitious.
Disney is moving forward with a Cars-themed expansion at Magic Kingdom, a Monsters, Inc. land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the Tropical Americas project at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Across the resort, construction plans are reshaping what guests can expect over the next several years.
Yet amid all those announcements, one major franchise remains noticeably absent.
Marvel.

Considering Marvel’s importance to Disney’s overall business, many fans continue to wonder whether an Avengers Campus could eventually become the company’s next major Orlando expansion project.
While there are no announced plans for such a land, the conversation refuses to disappear.
The Missing Piece in Disney World’s Portfolio
Walk through Disney parks around the world and Marvel has become impossible to ignore.
Disney California Adventure features Avengers Campus. Disneyland Paris has embraced Marvel through Avengers Campus as well. Hong Kong Disneyland has also transformed parts of its resort into a superhero destination.
Those parks allow guests to interact with Marvel characters in ways that feel much larger than a single attraction.
Florida tells a different story.
Outside of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT, Marvel’s footprint inside Walt Disney World remains surprisingly limited compared to Disney’s other global resorts.
For a company that owns the Avengers, Spider-Man films, and dozens of other Marvel properties, that can seem unusual to casual visitors.
Why Disney Can’t Simply Build It
The obstacle isn’t a lack of interest.
In fact, many theme park observers believe Disney would love to bring a larger Marvel presence to Orlando if it had complete freedom to do so.
The issue stems from a licensing agreement that predates Disney’s acquisition of Marvel.
Universal Orlando Resort holds theme park rights to many major Marvel characters east of the Mississippi River. Those rights helped create Marvel Super Hero Island and continue affecting Disney’s options today.
As long as those rights remain active, Disney faces limitations involving many of the characters that would typically anchor an Avengers Campus.
That’s why Disney has largely focused on Marvel properties that fall outside those restrictions.
Why Universal Still Values Marvel
Some fans assume the opening of Epic Universe could eventually make Marvel less important to Universal.
There is little evidence supporting that idea.
Marvel Super Hero Island remains one of the most recognizable sections of Islands of Adventure. Guests continue riding The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk Coaster in large numbers, and the land still serves as a major draw for superhero fans.
Universal doesn’t appear eager to part with an intellectual property that continues attracting visitors.
In many ways, Marvel remains just as relevant to Universal’s Orlando lineup today as it was years ago.

What an Orlando Avengers Campus Could Look Like
While Disney has never revealed plans for an Orlando version of Avengers Campus, existing versions offer clues about what fans might expect.
The land would likely feature immersive environments themed around the Avengers, opportunities to meet superheroes, specialized dining locations, merchandise offerings, and potentially new attractions built around major Marvel characters.
Considering the scale of recent Disney projects, an Orlando Avengers Campus would almost certainly become one of the company’s most significant investments.
It could also instantly become one of the most anticipated additions in Walt Disney World history.
Is There Any Momentum?
At the moment, there are no credible reports indicating that Disney and Universal are negotiating a Marvel rights transfer.
That hasn’t stopped speculation.
Every time Disney announces a major expansion, questions about Marvel inevitably resurface. Fans continue looking for clues, analyzing legal agreements, and debating possible scenarios that could bring Avengers Campus to Florida.
The conversation persists because Marvel remains one of the few major Disney brands without a true home at Walt Disney World.
Looking Ahead
For now, Disney’s expansion efforts are focused elsewhere.
Cars is heading to Magic Kingdom. Monsters, Inc. is coming to Hollywood Studios. Tropical Americas is transforming Animal Kingdom. Multiple projects are already in development across the resort.
Still, Marvel remains the wildcard.
If circumstances ever change and Disney gains the ability to build a full Avengers Campus in Orlando, it would immediately jump to the top of many fans’ wish lists.
Until then, the project remains one of Walt Disney World’s biggest “what if” scenarios.
The demand is there. The audience is there. The franchise is certainly popular enough.
The only question is whether the legal and business hurdles that have prevented Avengers Campus from reaching Florida can ever be overcome.
