If you’re an Annual Passholder at Walt Disney World, you might want to circle a couple of dates on your calendar. Before Disney rolls out a major new rule at Magic Kingdom next month, they’ve given guests one final bit of flexibility—and it’s coming just in time for the weekend.
Starting July 20, 2025, Disney is shaking up how Annual Passholders access Magic Kingdom. Gone will be the days of waltzing into the park after 2 p.m. without a reservation. The new policy requires Passholders to secure a reservation regardless of the time or day, even on weekdays. It’s a return to a more controlled entry system, and it’s being implemented just ahead of the debut of Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, the new nighttime parade that’s expected to flood the park with eager crowds.
But before that happens, there’s a silver lining.
Disney just added two more “Good to Go” days to the calendar: June 21 and June 22. That means Passholders can enter any of the four Disney World parks—Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, or Hollywood Studios—without needing a reservation. Even better? Those days fall on a Friday and Saturday, which is rare. Weekend access, especially to Magic Kingdom, typically comes with the added hurdle of a reservation, even after 2 p.m.
This feels like a bit of a parting gift. A chance to enjoy spontaneous park visits before the tighter rules go into effect. And while “Good to Go” days aren’t going away entirely, their timing will remain sporadic, with little notice from Disney. When one appears, you’ll want to grab it.
Once a day is labeled “Good to Go,” it won’t be taken back, so Passholders planning to visit that weekend just scored an easy win.
With crowd control becoming a top priority for Disney—especially as it rolls out new entertainment offerings—this move makes sense. But for fans who’ve enjoyed the post-2 p.m. flexibility, it’s definitely a shift in the opposite direction.
Why does it seem that Disney continues to add roadblocks and take away perks from DVC and Passholder members who are the biggest spenders when it comes to Disney. Things like this, Passholders having to make reservations while others ticket holders do not. Really how many passholders could be visiting a park at anytime that would really cause that much of a change in the park attendance at that time. They reason most of us bought into passholders and DVC was to get the perks like coming when we want and such.
I couldn’t agree more. If I have to make a reservation to go to Disney they don’t need my business. Enough is enough. I can go to other parks without having to make a reservation.
DISNEY IS GIVING ANNUAL PASSHOLDERS ONE BIG POTENTIAL TO LOOSE MONEY FROM their very own 4th class guests!!!!
PASSHOLDERS MUST HAVE A RESERVATION TO GO TO MAGIC KINGDOM PERIOD!!!!!
HOW GENEROUS OF DISNEY ESPECIALLY AFTER READING ALL WEEK HOW EMPTY THE PARKS ARE THIS SUMMER LUDICROUS!!!!!!
They are STILL AS ALWAYS PACKED WITH DISNEY’S FAVORITES——TOURISTS FROM EVERYWHERE
I GUESS PASSHOLDER MONEY IS NOT LARGE ENOUGH ESPECIALLY TO STAY IN THE CHERISHED RESORTS
Thanks, Iger for continuing to destroy the magic. PLEASE, Disney, FIRE IGER!
ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!
