After Disney Parks announced the upcoming refurbishment of the popular Trail’s End Restaurant at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort yesterday, many fans worried it spelled the end of the beloved dinner show hosted at the sit-down dining location since 1974.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort features multiple rustic and imaginative ways to stay on property at the Walt Disney World Resort, from rustic cabins to secluded villas and even a more luxurious Lodge. For all Guests staying at Fort Wilderness, dining at the Campsites’ Trail’s End Restaurant across Bay Lake is a must.

Inspired by the days of American pioneers, the “Frontier mainstay” allows dinners to head back in time for a “down-home,” family-style meal. For instance, the breakfast menu includes staples such as “Mickey waffles, fresh pastries, smoked brisket and eggs, cheesy potato casserole, and berry-granola yogurt parfait,” while dinner invites Guests to sample “all-you-care-to-enjoy skillets featuring pecan-smoked brisket, smoked chicken, pulled pork, sausage, roasted potatoes, corn-on-the-cob, and green beans,” along with drinks from Crockett’s Tavern.
However, in addition to serving American dining classics in a casual setting, Trail’s End also provides dinner theater entertainment of a unique variety: the infamous and most-beloved Hoop-Dee-Do0 Musical Revue. Within the Pioneer hall, a group called the Pioneer Players puts on a hilarious and wonderful two-hour dinner show for attending Guests, who get to sample delicious delicacies like “fried chicken and smoked BBQ pork ribs, as well as a tossed green salad, cowboy beans, fresh-baked cornbread, macaroni-and-cheese, creamy coleslaw, and strawberry shortcake.”

With Walt Disney World announcing plans to put Trail’s End on extended hiatus to convert the table service location into a more accessible, quick-service marketplace, many fans worried this might spell the end for Hoop-Dee-Doo. Well, worry no longer! In fact, as reported by theme park journalist Scott Gustin, the Trail’s End renovations will not impact Pioneer Hall’s favorite band of Players in the least.
Phew! Although Disney Parks and Resorts has not yet shared an exact date for the closure, we know the Trail’s End refurbishment project will begin this spring, with a projected grand reopening for the expanded space by the end of 2023.
