Disney’s Famous Star Wars Ride Leaves Fans Furious After Latest Change

Something always draws guests toward Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Even on an average weekday, the place hums with life. The smell of roasted Ronto Wraps drifts through the air, stormtroopers patrol the streets, and fans pause for photos in front of the Millennium Falcon. It’s not just an area of the park; it’s an entire other world.

Whether it’s your first step onto Batuu or your tenth, it’s easy to get swept up in the feeling that you’ve walked right into a movie. But this week, behind all the excitement, something happened with one of the land’s most prominent attractions — and it didn’t sit well with fans.

The Full Batuu Experience

From the moment you enter, Galaxy’s Edge is designed to immerse you. Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo serves creative dishes like Batuuan Beef Pot Roast, while Ronto Roasters is home to its legendary wraps. For the adventurous, there’s always the blue or green milk at the Milk Stand.

Characters make surprise appearances, from Rey tinkering on her speeder to Chewbacca scouting for Resistance allies. Outside of Batuu, Star Wars Launch Bay has long been a quieter space to meet Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and BB-8 — though its days are numbered, with closure looming.

Shoppers and collectors get their fill with Savi’s Workshop (build your own lightsaber) and Droid Depot (create a custom droid), while shops like Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities offer rare Star Wars treasures you won’t find anywhere else.

The Rides That Keep Fans Coming Back

Two main rides anchor Galaxy’s Edge. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run lets guests fly, shoot, and repair Han Solo’s famous ship in a high-energy mission. Then there’s Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Disney’s ambitious, multi-scene adventure that blends trackless vehicles, simulators, and massive set pieces to drop you into the middle of a First Order battle.

And beyond Batuu? Star Tours – The Adventures Continue in Echo Lake keeps the Star Wars fun alive with ever-changing destinations.

The News Fans Didn’t Want

This week, Rise of the Resistance reached a milestone that made regulars groan — a standby wait time pushing past 100 minutes. While long lines are nothing new here, the ride had been enjoying more manageable waits in recent months.

Why the sudden spike? Maybe a surge in crowds, downtime creating a backlog, or Florida’s weather pushing people indoors. Whatever the cause, it’s a reminder that this ride still draws an overwhelming demand years after its debut.

When the Force Tests Your Patience

Like Avatar Flight of Passage and Slinky Dog Dash, Rise is a headliner — but its complexity means even minor hiccups can lead to significant delays. Lightning Lane access is available for a separate fee, which can top $20 per person on busy days.

For newcomers, the wait might be worth every minute. It’s a judgment call for repeat visitors: spend nearly two hours in line or explore the rest of Galaxy’s Edge. Either way, Batuu remains one of Disney’s most stunning creations — you might need Jedi-level patience to enjoy it.
