Have you ever wondered what happens when Disneyland Resort parking trams break down? Thousands of Southern California theme park guests just found out.
Trams have transported guests from Disneyland Resort’s vast parking areas to Disneyland Park, Downtown Disney, and Disney California Adventure Park for decades. Since Disneyland Resort purchased its first tram in 1969, the transportation service has only paused long-term during the COVID-19 pandemic as the theme park tried to maintain safe social distance between guests.
Tram service returned to Disneyland Resort in February 2022, and it’s safe to say that guests have gotten used to the convenience again over the past two years. Unfortunately, some Disney Park guests recently experienced life without a ride to their vehicles.
TikTok user @jessikuhhh7 shared this video after waiting 20 minutes for a Disneyland Resort parking tram, only to find out the service had ceased operations.
@jessikuhhh7 We waited for 20 min then they said it could take an hour 😭😂 #disney #disneyland #happiestplaceonearth
Disney cast members encouraged guests to walk to the Pixar Pals and Mickey & Friends parking structures, as the wait for the tram to return “could take an hour.” In that time, thousands of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park guests would’ve lined up for the return trip to their vehicles.
It’s unusual for all trams to stop service if just one experiences a maintenance issue. According to other Disneyland Resort guests, a tram was leaking oil, forcing Anaheim Fire & Rescue to respond.
“We where there too!!” @melodyylove wrote. “One of the trams was leaking gas! Fire department has to come.”
“One of the trams was leaking oil,” @caleconomist confirmed. “They had to stop them to clean up the ground.”
Unsurprisingly, some Disney Park guests weren’t happy about the tram shutdown.
“I went from 28k steps for the day to just shy of 31k because of this lmao,” @say.it.again.skye commented.
“Not bad at all but some people were all mad,” @jessikuhhh7 replied.
Still, other Disney Parks fans said they prefer walking to their cars.
“Honestly if we’re there open to close, I’d rather stay in motion and walk to the car, otherwise it’s too hard to get back up and walk from the tram to the car,” said @gamolienickle.
“It’s faster to walk,” @scarletshayoshi wrote. “I never take tram now. Even the security downtown is faster.”
