Active Fire Interrupts Disneyland Resort Operations

A vehicle fire broke out in the Simba Parking Lot at Disneyland Resort last weekend, briefly disrupting operations as nearby guests fled the area. The blaze was eventually brought under control by Disneyland Resort staff and local authorities.

Videos and photos of the fire circulated rapidly on social media, drawing attention to the dramatic event. Reddit user u/canOAir shared a video showing flames rising from a vehicle with Disney California Adventure Park attractions visible in the background, including Pixar Pal-A-Round and the Incredicoaster. The user described the car as having “burst into flames.”

Another witness, u/WestSider55, reported fleeing the area as they exited Disneyland Resort in their car. They identified the vehicle as a Hyundai Accent and shared an image of the scene, which showed thick smoke rising above the parking lot.

Quick Response Ensures Disneyland Resort Guest Safety

A Disneyland Resort cast member, u/whyisreplicainmyname, confirmed that the fire was addressed promptly, with authorities called over the radio to extinguish the flames. “Smelled it from my work location,” they wrote.

While the fire temporarily impacted guests in the area, no injuries were reported, and operations inside Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and Downtown Disney District continued as usual. Although it remains unclear how long the fire burned, its impact was limited to the parking lot. Structures, attractions, and other areas of the resort were unaffected by the incident.

Speculation Surrounds Fire’s Cause

The cause of the fire has not been confirmed, but it has sparked conversations online, particularly regarding Hyundai vehicles. In 2023, Hyundai recalled over 3.3 million vehicles due to fire risks associated with electrical shorts from brake fluid leaks.

“That checks out,” wrote u/dks64, a Hyundai owner and Disneyland Resort fan, in response to the incident. “I had a recall notice last year and was told to not park my car in a garage or near a building because it could catch fire, even with the engine off.”
