Disneyland Park’s Tomorrowland is looking sharper than ever, as Disneyland Resort finally clears away the last remnants of construction surrounding the Little Green Men Store Command gift shop.
Construction Officially Wraps Up
WDWNT reported this week that Disneyland Resort has removed all visible signs of construction from the Tomorrowland merchandise location, sharing a photo on social media showing the shop’s finished exterior.
The refurbishment began in mid-April, forcing the closure of both Little Green Men Store Command and the neighboring Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters attraction. The gift shop reopened comparatively quickly in early June, though scrim and scaffolding still covered its exterior, including the building’s iconic Space Mountain mural. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters reopened a few weeks after that, and both the ride and store have run smoothly ever since.
A Fresh Look Emerges
The scrim finally started coming down in early September, revealing fresh new paint on the pillars framing the shop’s entrance: white on the exterior, purple on the inside.
Disneyland Resort also used the opportunity to refresh the building’s Space Mountain mural, a design originally created by longtime Walt Disney Imagineer Tim J. Delaney, who dedicated more than 30 years of his career to The Walt Disney Company. While the mural’s overall design hasn’t visibly changed, the Southern California Disney park likely addressed any faded paint, weathering, or sun damage that had built up over the years.
Even with such an extended construction timeline, Disneyland Resort never formally acknowledged the completion of this refurbishment in Tomorrowland. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and Little Green Store Command are currently both operating normally at the original Southern California Disney park.
