Disneyland Paris Announces Restaurant Closure Through October 15

Colonel Hathi’s, the Jungle Book (1967)-themed dining spot tucked into Adventureland at Disneyland Park, has temporarily closed for refurbishment, with Disney Parks fans already weighing in on what they’d like to see changed by the time it reopens.

Colonel Hathi’s is a Quick-Service restaurant themed around Hathi, the elephant character central to both Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Jungle Book and Rudyard Kipling’s original 1894 Mowgli stories that inspired the film. Disneyland Paris Resort confirmed this month that the location has closed for refurbishment, with a scheduled reopening set for October 15.

X (formerly known as Twitter) user @DLPReport documented the closure on September 10, sharing photos of the restaurant now enclosed by wooden construction walls, with a large brown door serving as the entry point for Disney cast members working on the project. The user wrote:

🔧 Colonel Hathi’s is now closed for refurbishment until October 15. There’s a lot to fix here, especially outside, and maybe we’re getting some ordering kiosks.

Signage posted at the site reads, in both French and English:

“This area is being refurbished for your future enjoyment.”

Disneyland Paris Resort hasn’t revealed specifics about the refurbishment, leaving European Disney Parks fans to speculate about what improvements might be coming. X user @Orbitron92 posted side-by-side photos comparing the restaurant’s waterfall feature in 1992 to its current, deteriorated condition, writing:

It’s a shame…

Fellow user @grassebiloute weighed in on the food side of things, simply stating:

The menu should also be changed.

For now, Colonel Hathi’s offers a combination of Indian dishes like Butter Chicken and Lentil dahl, alongside Mickey Mouse-shaped pizzas and pastas. Whether the restaurant will introduce a refreshed menu upon its October 15, 2026, reopening remains unclear.
