Disneyland Reveals Reimagined Main Street Area After Months of Work
After months behind a beige scrim, one of Main Street, U.S.A.’s most recognizable dining destinations has emerged with a noticeably refreshed exterior, and the reveal comes at a moment of transition for the beloved Disneyland Park restaurant.
What Was Behind the Scrim

Disneyland Resort installed scrim fabric over the Plaza Inn facade in June to conceal an exterior construction project on the Main Street, U.S.A., Table-Service restaurant. When the scrim finally came down late last month, WDWNT was there to document the results.
The side of the building appears to have been repainted in its familiar cream color — but the difference between the newly refinished surface and the surrounding areas is immediately apparent. The refreshed section looks significantly shinier, cleaner, and more vibrant than the older, weathered portions of the building still awaiting attention.

Disneyland Resort also replaced a tree near the restaurant that had previously fallen, rounding out the improvements to the immediate surroundings of one of Main Street, U.S.A.’s most historically significant structures.
Disneyland Resort has issued no public statement about the scope or the continuation of the project.
What’s Changing Inside the Restaurant
The exterior reveal lands just weeks before a change to the Plaza Inn dining experience. The “Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park” character dining offering — which brings Minnie Mouse and her friends to the restaurant for the morning meal — is pausing on August 17, 2026. The break was originally set to begin August 10 before Disneyland Resort pushed the date back by a week in late July without explanation.

Lunch and dinner service will continue at the Plaza Inn throughout the character dining pause — the characters appear exclusively at breakfast, leaving the other meals unaffected. Disneyland Resort has said the “Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park” experience will return in late September, but hasn’t announced a specific reopening date or explained why the pause is happening.
