Some Disneyland Resort cast members could start carrying guns as the Southern California Disney parks prepare for a big change on Friday, July 26.
Disneyland Paris Resort was two days ahead of Disneyland Resort, introducing a firearm-carrying Marvel character to the public on Wednesday, July 24. To celebrate this weekend’s premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), the 20th Century FOX superhero made his first-ever Disney park appearance.

Deadpool is, of course, one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s less “family-friendly” characters. To help mitigate this, Disneyland Paris Resort decided that the character wouldn’t carry guns in his costume holsters.
Instead, the sarcastic superhero is armed with uniquely French “batons”: two baguettes! Check out these photos from X (formerly Twitter) user @Cave0fWonders:

On June 26, Deadpool will make his first-ever United States Disney Park appearance in Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park. However, it’s unclear if Disneyland Resort will allow the character to sport his trademark guns.
Following his introduction in Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris Resort, Disney Parks fans on Reddit pondered what uniquely California item could replace the weapons in Deadpool’s costume.
“Obviously churros,” read the most popular response from u/HegemonHarbinger.

“I’m hoping the answer is chimichangas,” said u/Unhappy-Day5677.
Others suggested that Deadpool should carry “weapons” from nearby Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park attractions.
“Midway Mania blasters or water guns,” u/Brookings18 wrote.

Some fans thought Disneyland Resort would use a different costume than Disneyland Paris Resort, removing the gun holsters to avoid controversy among guests.
“I didn’t see any guns or holsters on the pics they put out,” u/ledfrog commented. “He’s carrying swords though. I guess only pirates and Stormtroopers can have guns these days.”
Disney Parks guests won’t be meeting Ryan Reynolds, but the character performers playing Wade Wilson will surely delight Marvel fans of all ages. Deadpool debuts in Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park on Friday, July 26, 2024–for a limited time.
