Domestic Abuse Reports Plague Disneyland California Theme Parks
Disneyland Resort guests and cast members recently shared a disturbing trend of intimate partner violence at the Southern California Disney parks. The conversation left fans wondering how to make guests safer at “The Happiest Place on Earth.”
The discussion began when Redditor u/whyisreplicainmyname recounted witnessing abuse between two separate couples at Disneyland Park. The first incident occurred at Alien Pizza Planet in Tomorrowland when a man escalated a verbal argument into a physical conflict with his female partner:
“I saw a couple sitting at the tables at Alien pizza Planet at the beginning of the day, obviously having a fight. She’s crying, he looks angry, but he ends up grabbing her face and making her look at him. Like, jeez… people thinking they can physically rough up their partners in public like that concern me. We ended up leaving, but not before my wife informed the nearest cast member about it.”
In a separate incident, the Disney Park guest witnessed a man grab his girlfriend after she tried to walk away from an argument.
“She tried to leave, he grabbed her by the backpack and yanked her back,” they recalled. “Getting in her face while she tried to leave. [She] took off the backpack, and dude eventually just took the backpack and took off. We reported that one to cast members too who went to look for security.”
Other commenters confirmed that domestic disputes are unfortunately commonplace at Disneyland Resort.
“I have [cast member family],” u/Nomenclaturebreaker wrote. “And they say nearly all physical altercations in parks are domestic, and based on things I’ve even I’ve just seen peripherally I 100% believe it.”
Disney Parks fans were horrified at the thought of violence at Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and Downtown Disney.
“Usually I see fighting but not straight up domestic violence…wow,” said u/Northernbelle09. “You know that’s nothing like what they’re doing behind closed doors too.”
“This is my biggest Disney ick, people being unkind to their kids and significant others,” u/Rightsureokay replied. “I couldn’t care less about the nasty, snotty, germy stuff kids and others do but I wish people would not lose their s**t over things as trivial as dropping candy. And you’re right, it definitely makes you think about the behavior at home we’re not seeing.”
Report any inappropriate behavior to the nearest Disney cast member. It’s best to allow trained security cast members to de-escalate tense situations at the Disney theme parks.
