Thousands Flood Disneyland, Mayhem Takes Over

Disneyland Resort guests found themselves in a sea of people this week as unexpected midweek crowds brought Disneyland Park walkways to a near standstill. With the Disneyland70 festivities just days away, guests hoping to beat the surge were instead met with scenes some described as total chaos.

The mayhem unfolded on May 13, when Reddit user u/One-Picture1903 shared an image of a packed walkway in Disneyland Park at noon. The photo showed shoulder-to-shoulder crowds, leaving little space to navigate the area. The caption: “12pm on a Tuesday.”

Others quickly confirmed that they experienced similar scenes.

The entrance line today was absolutely nuts,” said u/trevorda92. “Never seen it so long.”

I was there yesterday on a grad night day,” u/JustLo619 agreed. “It was ridiculously crowded.”

While Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park are preparing for heavier traffic in the days ahead, many Disney Parks fans believed they could squeeze in a final quiet visit before the anniversary rush officially begins on May 16. They were wrong.

Sad to see,” u/Independent_Wrap_321 wrote. “Haven’t been since 2019… It’s just not worth it. I’m glad I went all-out the last time, but this just sucks, especially with only a couple of days to do it all. I’m not waiting all day just to do Pirates and HM. Dammit, this just breaks my heart.”

“And it’s not even summer vacation yet,” said u/eagledog.

Other Disney Parks fans were less fazed.

Wait times there right now aren’t that bad,” u/this-one-is-mine argued. “This area is just always highly congested.”

This is a heavy traffic area prone to congestion,” u/suziannie agreed. “Not sure what your point here is?”

With Disneyland Resort’s 70th anniversary celebration set to run from May 16 through summer 2026, guests can likely expect more days like this one—packed, unpredictable, and overwhelming.

  1. Could it be that these were SCAL people using the last of their special 3-day ticket? That is why my adult daughter is there today.
