Disney Park Closes Key Lands for Refurbishment, Impacting Thousands of Guests
Extensive construction walls have recently become a prominent feature at Disneyland Park, much to guests’ dismay. These walls disrupt the picturesque landscape crafted by Walt Disney and restrict access to various beloved attractions and amenities.
As guests navigate the park, they encounter a labyrinth of barriers that obscure the familiar sights and sounds of Disneyland, significantly altering the guest experience. This construction surge, while necessary for upcoming renovations and advancements, has led to many inconveniences. Disney Park attractions and dining establishments are temporarily closed, prompting guests to adjust their plans and expectations. The lack of clear sightlines to attractions further hampers the overall ambiance Disneyland Resort is renowned for, fostering a sense of frustration among those who have long cherished the park.
Disneyland Park’s Seasonal Challenges
The fall season at Disneyland is unique and presents its own set of frustrations for guests. Traditionally seen as an ideal time to visit due to milder weather and festive decorations, the reality of construction contrasts sharply with the seasonal allure. Public schools are back in session, deterring some guests.
However, the influx of seasonal events, such as Oogie Boogie Bash, draws in substantial crowds. Due to ongoing construction, Disneyland Park guests contend with long wait times and partial closures, resulting in a jarring experience.
TikTok user @jetterz3 recently shared this video of construction on Main Street, U.S.A., and in the recently-renamed Bayou Country. The Disney Park guest joked that the temporary barriers were part of the theme park’s Halloween decorations.
@jetterz3 Small World is also down for refurb. Cant wait until the walls are down! #disneyparks #distok #disneyland @Disney Parks
Still, not all Disney Parks fans can brush off construction walls so easily.
“It’s so irritating, “said one commenter. “Every time we go there’s something different being worked on.”
Disneyland Resort’s challenge lies in balancing the need for renovations and updates with guest satisfaction. As Disney parks grow increasingly crowded year-round, the impact of construction on guest experiences becomes all the more pronounced.
Notable Attractions Under Renovation
Several notable attractions are currently under refurbishment, reshaping the Disneyland Park experience for guests. One such attraction is “it’s a small world,” which has recently closed for maintenance. Known for its cheerful music and stylized dolls, the ride’s temporary inaccessibility leaves a gap in the park’s offerings, particularly affecting families with young children who often seek it out.
Another iconic Disneyland attraction, The Haunted Mansion, is also undergoing renovations. Despite its current festive twist–Haunted Mansion Holiday–the attraction is undergoing substantial work. Guests now must navigate a Virtual Queue as construction crews rebuild the ride’s queue and create an all-new merchandise location.
Additionally, Disneyland Resort has made headlines with the highly anticipated Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a retheming of the former Splash Mountain. Scheduled to open on November 15, 2024, this new attraction aims to immerse guests in the vibrant culture of New Orleans.
With preparation underway, the closure of the former Critter Country has already begun, signaling a significant transformation within the Southern California Disney park.
