Disneyland Sets up Locations in Two Texas Cities, Further Expansion Incoming?

Disneyland Resort might call California home, but this summer, the magic is spreading beyond the borders of the Golden State. As part of the Disneyland70 celebration, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse made a surprise stop in Texas, setting up celebratory installations in not one, but two major cities.

The 70th anniversary festivities officially began on May 16, 2025, months ahead of Disneyland Resort’s July 17 birthday. At Disneyland Park, guests can enjoy a full slate of new and returning experiences, including the fan-favorite Paint the Night parade, the “Celebrate Happy Cavalcade” featuring characters like ShellieMay and Duffy, and the nighttime “Wondrous Journeys” fireworks. Disneyland Park has also added new Coco (2017)-inspired dolls to “it’s a small world” and launched the “Tapestry of Happiness” projection show on the ride’s facade.

Across the esplanade, Disney California Adventure Park rolled out updates to Toy Story Midway Mania!, introduced the “World of Color Happiness” interactive show, and brought back the “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration” parade.

But it’s not just Californians getting to celebrate Disneyland Resort’s 70th anniversary. On Tuesday, Mickey and Minnie Mouse arrived in Dallas, Texas, with a hot air balloon and plenty of Disneyland70 magic in tow. Influencers and Disney Parks fans shared the surprise appearance online, including TikTok user @lawsonsmagic:

Disney cast members handed out free Minnie Mouse ears, and the colorful setup quickly drew a crowd. According to Rubi, the Disneyland70 installation is heading to Houston next, though the exact timing remains under wraps. Disney has not confirmed whether additional cities are part of this pop-up celebration tour.

Back in California, Disneyland Resort’s anniversary celebration is far from over. On July 17, “it’s a small world” will debut a final song verse written by the Sherman brothers, and the Main Street Opera House will premiere a new show titled “Walt Disney – A Magical Life.” The new entertainment offering features the first-ever Walt Disney audio-animatronic and artifacts from the Walt Disney Archives.

The Disneyland70 celebration continues through summer 2026.
