2nd Package Leads to Manhunt for Suspect Involved in Bomb Scare at Disneyland

What Families Need to Know Concerning the Incident

Two suspicious bags left outside Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, triggered a bomb squad response, temporarily shut down a major entrance, and forced visitors to change their routes on Monday night, October 12, 2026. Although investigators found no explosives, the Disneyland bomb squad scare has developed into a police investigation involving a man suspected of deliberately leaving the packages.

The incident unfolded near Harbor Boulevard, where guests access the resort’s eastern entrance and shuttle transportation. The discovery disrupted departures from Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, leaving visitors unable to use their usual eastern exit.

Disneyland Bomb Squad Scare Begins With Two Suspicious Bags

According to Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Eric Anderson, Disneyland security contacted authorities after employees discovered two unattended bags near the eastern shuttle roundabout.

One satchel-style bag was positioned on a dolly, with exposed wires protruding from it. Investigators subsequently discovered marbles inside.

The second bag, made of nylon, was sealed with duct tape and contained several objects with pointed edges. Those items reportedly included Disney-branded crowns, belt buckles, and other miscellaneous metal objects.

The unusual arrangement immediately raised security concerns. Police requested assistance from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad to determine whether the packages contained explosives.

A security dog reportedly examined the bags without alerting to explosives, but authorities continued their investigation because of the objects’ suspicious appearance.

The response also explains the sudden restrictions described in Inside the Magic’s earlier coverage of Disneyland’s unexpected exit closures.

Police Believe Disneyland Packages Were Deliberately Made Suspicious

The investigation took another turn when authorities indicated the bags might have been intentionally arranged to attract attention.

Anderson told reporters that investigators believed the packages were deliberately left to appear suspicious. Police were searching for a man suspected of placing them near the entrance.

According to reporting based on police statements, investigators obtained information through surveillance footage and witness accounts. However, authorities had not publicly identified the individual or released a suspect photograph in the initial reports.

Importantly, the suspected intentional placement does not establish that the person intended to cause panic, threaten visitors, or commit a particular crime. Those questions remain unanswered.

The distinction matters because investigators ultimately determined that neither bag contained explosives. The apparent threat was not an actual explosive device, despite the extensive emergency response.

Police have not established a publicly confirmed motive. Whether the incident will result in criminal charges also remains unknown.

Disneyland Entrance Closure Forces Guests Away From Harbor Boulevard

The security response affected one of Disneyland Resort’s most important pedestrian and transportation corridors.

Authorities temporarily restricted access to the eastern Esplanade and Harbor Boulevard shuttle area, redirecting visitors toward other resort exits.

Guests attempting to reach nearby hotels or the Toy Story Parking Area encountered unexpected transportation complications. Some were directed toward Downtown Disney rather than their normal departure routes.

Inside the Magic previously documented Disneyland’s eastern entrance restrictions, including reports of police activity and guests being redirected.

The disruption primarily involved pedestrian circulation and transportation access. Available reporting does not establish that Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park underwent a complete operational shutdown.

Bomb squad personnel determined the bags posed no explosive threat shortly before midnight. Authorities subsequently reopened the affected area.

The incident demonstrates how an emergency outside the attraction gates can interrupt a resort visit even when the rides themselves remain operational.

Disneyland Security Procedures Face a Real-World Test

Disneyland already maintains extensive security measures across its Southern California property.

According to the resort’s official security information, those measures include security personnel, police officers, trained dogs, and screening checkpoints.

Disney also reserves the right to address unattended belongings under its published park rules.

The October 12 incident illustrates why suspicious objects cannot simply be dismissed because they are discovered outside a theme park rather than inside an attraction.

The affected Harbor Boulevard entrance connects visitors with nearby hotels, pedestrian pathways, and shuttle transportation. Restricting access therefore creates consequences beyond the immediate location of a security investigation.

Those transportation arrangements are also evolving. Disneyland has been preparing changes to the eastern shuttle area as part of a larger infrastructure project.

Inside the Magic reported on Disneyland’s planned Toy Story shuttle relocation, which involves moving the drop-off point closer to Harbor Boulevard.

That construction project is separate from the police investigation. There is no verified evidence connecting the suspicious packages to Disneyland’s transportation improvements.

What the Disneyland Investigation Means for Future Visitors

For guests planning upcoming Disneyland Resort vacations, the most important distinction is that the immediate security emergency has ended, while the investigation into who left the bags remains unresolved.

The bomb squad found no explosives, and authorities cleared the affected area for reopening.

Visitors should not interpret the incident as evidence of an ongoing explosive threat or a permanent closure of Disneyland’s eastern entrance.

However, the disruption provides a reminder that security responses can temporarily change familiar transportation arrangements without advance warning.

Guests relying on the Toy Story Parking Area, Harbor Boulevard hotels, or eastern pedestrian access should follow posted instructions and Cast Member directions whenever access restrictions occur.

Disneyland’s previously announced entrance and transportation changes are another reason visitors should verify their routes rather than assume familiar pathways will remain unchanged.

The larger unanswered question concerns the person suspected of leaving the packages. Investigators have not publicly established a motive, and the available initial reports do not confirm an arrest.

Any subsequent identification, arrest, or criminal charge would represent a separate development requiring official confirmation.

For now, the immediate threat assessment is settled: the bags were harmless. What remains under investigation is whether their suspicious appearance was deliberately engineered to provoke an emergency response at one of Disneyland’s busiest access points.
