Disney World’s Eye-Opening Costs: A Priceless Reaction at Topolino’s Terrace

Disney World is expensive. You know that, I know that, the little old lady down the street knows that. I don’t think there is a soul on earth who is under the delusion that a Walt Disney World Resort vacation is cheap. That doesn’t ease the sticker shock though when the bill comes. Topolino’s Terrace is one of the most popular character meals at Disney (and also one of its most expensive as one man recently and hilarious discovered).

Over the years, the cost of visiting Walt Disney World has continued to rise, and those costs are passed on to Guests in a variety of ways– including food costs. There’s a multitude of reasons behind the rising prices- from higher operating costs to out-of-touch executives. Not long ago, under the direction of former CEO Bob Chapek, Disney Parks implemented price hikes across the board which were incredibly unpopular.

One of the largest price increases was for Disney’s character dining. Character dining is arguably one of the most popular dining options at Disney World, with options at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and multiple resort hotels. Dining with your favorite characters comes with a cost though, character dining is also one of Disney’s most expensive options.

One man recently found this out the hard way. TikTok user Charlene Payne (@charlenetpayne) knew what to expect but her husband was blindsided by the cost of the character breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace. When the bill arrived, Payne whipped out her camera and started recording. The result was priceless. The man did a double take and took his glasses and just blinked in shock. We feel his pain.

For reference, breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace costs $45 per adult and $29 per child. We don’t know how many people were in their travel party but we do know there were at least 2 adults and one child. That means their bill was $119 and potentially more depending on how many people were in their travel party.

Other TikTok users joined in the comments to empathize:

One offered encouragement that they chose Disney’s most expensive character breakfast so the upside is that it only gets cheaper from there.

Another expressed similar thoughts but said that her grandson’s face made it all worth it.

One joked about the man taking off his glasses so that he couldn’t see the first anymore (we’ve all been there).

Of course, no one can discuss Disney food costs on the internet without someone mentioning dining plans. The preoaid meal option is sorely missed by many. We couldn’t agree more.

While the character breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace is a bit pricey, many guests agree that it’s worth the cost for the delicious food and the opportunity to spend time with some beloved Disney characters. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, and Donald Duck are there in their artistic finest, and the menu is curated to celebrate the flavors and artistry of the French and Italian Riviera.
