Disney World Parade Gutted After Weeks of Cancellations and Breakdowns
One of Magic Kingdom’s biggest entertainment offerings has reportedly been going through a surprisingly difficult stretch.
Festival of Fantasy Parade brings Disney characters, performers, and massive floats through the park each day. But over the past several weeks, some guests have reportedly encountered something very different from the complete show they expected.
Cancellations, missing floats, altered character appearances, and other problems have reportedly affected performances.

Now, another breakdown has happened right in the middle of Main Street, U.S.A.
Festival of Fantasy Hits Another Snag
Festival of Fantasy currently has a scheduled 2 p.m. performance at Magic Kingdom, although Disney entertainment times can change.
Among the parade’s familiar characters are Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty (1959). They appear just before one of Festival of Fantasy’s most recognizable sights: the fire-breathing Maleficent dragon.
During one recent parade, Merryweather’s rolling base became stuck on the trolley tracks.
The entire parade temporarily stopped as Cast Members responded to the problem.
Rather than abandoning the performance, Cast Members made a quick adjustment. They covered Merryweather with a black sheet while working around the malfunction before she stepped off the base.
Merryweather then continued down the parade route on foot behind the other fairies.
Her rolling base didn’t have the same fate. Cast Members covered it with a black sheet and later towed it down Main Street.
Cancellations and Missing Floats Reported
The timing of this latest breakdown makes it particularly notable.
Festival of Fantasy has reportedly experienced several other problems during recent weeks. Some floats have been missing, while characters have had to walk the parade route instead of appearing in their usual positions.
A social media post featured in the original report described the parade as having a “rough month” filled with cancellations and missing floats. The poster went further, claiming they hadn’t personally seen a performance during the previous month that wasn’t canceled or heavily altered.
While that represents one person’s experience rather than an official accounting of every performance, it adds context to the latest malfunction.
For some guests, Festival of Fantasy simply hasn’t looked like the complete parade they expected.

What Happens Next?
Disney has not announced that Festival of Fantasy is permanently losing floats or characters.
The latest breakdown actually showed how quickly Cast Members can adjust when something goes wrong. Instead of allowing Merryweather’s malfunctioning base to end the entire parade, they removed it and kept the remaining procession moving.
Still, the growing number of reported disruptions is difficult to ignore.
Festival of Fantasy remains on the Magic Kingdom entertainment schedule, but recent weeks have shown that a scheduled performance doesn’t necessarily guarantee every piece of the parade will appear exactly as planned.
For guests hoping to catch Festival of Fantasy during an upcoming Magic Kingdom visit, it may be worth checking the day’s entertainment schedule and preparing for the possibility of last-minute changes.
