Disney World guests have grown accustomed to seeing changes throughout the resort, whether that means new attractions, updated entertainment, or the removal of experiences that have been around for decades.
However, not every change comes with a major announcement.
Sometimes, Disney makes adjustments that visitors might not notice unless they’re familiar with how an attraction or show looked before.
That appears to be the case with one of Walt Disney World’s longest-running entertainment traditions.
After more than five decades of performances, a beloved nighttime experience has received a subtle but noticeable refresh.

Disney World Tradition Dates Back More Than Five Decades
The Electrical Water Pageant has entertained Walt Disney World visitors since October 1971, when it debuted during the resort’s dedication celebrations.
That makes the nighttime procession one of the few entertainment offerings still operating from Disney World’s earliest days.
Rather than taking place inside Magic Kingdom, the show travels across Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake, passing several Disney Resort hotels.
Guests gather along the waterfront to watch illuminated floats featuring colorful sea creatures, King Neptune, and a patriotic finale.
For families staying at nearby hotels, the Electrical Water Pageant offers a relaxing way to enjoy Disney entertainment without returning to a theme park.
Its longevity is particularly impressive considering how much Walt Disney World has changed since opening.
Although Disney introduced temporary additions for the resort’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2021, the traditional floats eventually returned to their familiar presentation.
Now, another adjustment has caught the attention of Disney World observers.
Classic Disney Floats Look Different Than Before
BlogMickey recently compared photographs of the Electrical Water Pageant from previous years with images taken in late October and early November 2026.
The comparison revealed noticeable differences in the lighting across several floats.
One of the clearest examples involves the alligator.
Previously, the character’s teeth and the outline surrounding its red eye featured warm yellow lighting. Those same sections now appear bright white.
The patriotic finale has also changed.
The American flags feature cooler white stripes and deeper blue sections, giving the familiar display a more vibrant appearance.
Additional differences appear on the King Neptune and dinosaur floats.
Some yellow outlines have shifted toward amber and orange, while blue lighting appears richer than before.
Although these aren’t dramatic changes to the show’s characters or storyline, they can make a noticeable difference in how the floats appear against the dark water.

What’s Behind Disney World’s Latest Update?
The biggest question is whether Disney has upgraded the Electrical Water Pageant’s lighting equipment.
The newer colors resemble the appearance of LED lights, which often produce cooler whites and more saturated colors than older incandescent bulbs.
However, Disney hasn’t officially confirmed a lighting replacement or explained the changes.
It’s also unclear whether every float received adjustments.
What visitors can see is that the Electrical Water Pageant still features its recognizable characters and traditional nighttime presentation.
That’s welcome news for fans who worry about Disney replacing older entertainment with completely new experiences.
The Electrical Water Pageant has survived 55 years of changes throughout Walt Disney World, and its latest adjustments appear focused on its appearance rather than its identity.
For guests planning to watch the procession during an upcoming vacation, the refreshed lighting offers another reason to pay attention to this historic Disney World tradition.
