Disney World Announces Lightning Lane Update Ahead of New Zootopia Attraction

Changes to Lightning Lane Pricing

Disney World has announced an update to its Lightning Lane pricing structure, impacting all parks, including Animal Kingdom. Disney raised prices across its Lightning Lane pass tiers earlier in the month. This adjustment prepares for larger crowds during the holiday season and upcoming Halloween festivities. Compared to other Disney parks, the prices at Animal Kingdom remain lower due to the limited number of Lightning Lane experiences available.

The pricing increase for a Lightning Lane Multi Pass is now set at $19, contrasting sharply with the Premier Pass, priced at $189. Given the unique attractions available, this keeps Animal Kingdom at the more budget-friendly end of Disney World’s pricing scale while still providing value.

Ride Availability in Animal Kingdom

In recent weeks, closures have been affecting the ride options available for guests at Animal Kingdom. Kali River Rapids is currently under refurbishment, which has reduced the number of rides accessible via the Lightning Lane. Visitors can now only choose from four available rides: DINOSAUR, Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and Naʻvi River Journey.

Nonetheless, Animal Kingdom does offer Lightning Lane access for some shows, including the popular Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!. While the experience at Animal Kingdom may be limited compared to other Disney parks, many guests appreciate the opportunities presented when given access to unique attractions.

Introduction of Zootopia: Better Together

Excitement is in the air with the upcoming addition of Zootopia: Better Together, which is slated to open on November 7. This new attraction will take over the Tree of Life theater, previously occupied by It’s Tough to Be a Bug. The replacement comes after an extensive refurbishment lasting eight months.

With the opening of Zootopia: Better Together coinciding with the anticipated release of Zootopia 2 in 2025, Disney World guests and fans of the original movie eagerly look forward to the new experiences it will offer.

Future of Lightning Lane at Animal Kingdom

Disney World has hinted at several upcoming changes to the Lightning Lane offerings at Animal Kingdom. Following the introduction of Zootopia: Better Together, there will be another ride closure as DINOSAUR is expected to shut down early next year in preparation for the new Encanto-themed Tropical Americas land.

Guests wanting to enjoy the updated Lightning Lane offerings should act quickly, as this enhanced experience will only be available for a limited time. Many visitors are excited about the addition of new attractions and the chance to enjoy more services at Animal Kingdom while they are still accessible. Overall, Disney World ensures that it balances affordability with guest experience, making each visit enjoyable and memorable.
