Disney World Just Moved Something New Into Beloved EPCOT Pavilion!

EPCOT has a new resident. A young orphaned manatee named Calfuccino has arrived at The Seas with Nemo & Friends at Disney World for short-term rehabilitative care.

She joins fellow manatees Cider and Tanimura, and guests can see all three during their next EPCOT visit.

Who Is Calfuccino?

Calfuccino is a young female manatee with quite a backstory.

Her journey so far:

  • Rescued in May 2025 near Naples
  • Rescued alongside her mother, Venti, who was injured
  • Venti still cared for Calfuccino, who was just a calf at the time
  • Received critical care at ZooTampa
  • Now at EPCOT for short-term rehabilitation

Her growth:

  • About 156 pounds at rescue
  • More than 545 pounds today

What Happens at EPCOT

Calfuccino is currently getting used to her new home alongside Cider and Tanimura.

Disney’s animal care experts will give her specialized attention. The goal is to help her reach the health milestones she needs for an eventual return to the wild.

Since her stay is short-term, there’s no guarantee how long she’ll be at EPCOT.

The Conservation Partnership

Calfuccino’s arrival is part of a larger partnership between:

  • Disney
  • The Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Partnership
  • The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service

Together, they work to support the recovery and protection of manatees, a threatened species.

A Long History of Manatee Care

The pavilion first opened in 1986 as The Living Seas. It has served as a critical care and rehabilitation site for decades.

Over the years, injured manatees have stayed there to rest, recover, and rehabilitate. Calfuccino’s arrival is the latest chapter in Disney’s long-standing commitment to Florida’s manatee population.

Why It’s Worth a Visit

The Seas is easy to skip on a busy EPCOT day, but Calfuccino’s arrival is a good reason to stop in. Her story makes the visit especially meaningful for kids learning about wildlife.

Because she’s only at EPCOT for short-term care, now may be the best time to see her before she continues her journey back to the wild.
