If you’ve enjoyed stepping inside EPCOT’s Morocco Pavilion for some AC, light snacks, and a quiet place to recharge, brace yourself—it’s going away again.
Restaurant Marrakesh, tucked in the back of the pavilion, has been serving as a temporary Annual Passholder lounge this summer. It’s been one of those hidden gems: complimentary water, photo ops, a button giveaway, and, best of all, a break from the heat. But starting July 13, that oasis shuts down—and with it, yet another chapter of uncertainty for the space.
This isn’t the first time Restaurant Marrakesh has been mothballed. Long before it became a lounge, it was known for offering authentic North African cuisine and live entertainment. Guests could enjoy couscous and belly dancing in a lavish setting that felt truly transportive. But since the pandemic, Disney hasn’t brought it back in full force. Instead, it’s occasionally dusted off the space for events or temporary setups, but never with any long-term commitment.
And that’s the real story here. Marrakesh keeps getting reopened and shut back down. It’s a revolving door of short-term use. One day it’s a quiet escape, the next it’s back to being an empty shell.
So what now? No official plans have been announced. There’s no new restaurant, no major remodel, and no sign that anything permanent is on the way. Considering all the exciting upgrades EPCOT has seen lately—new rides, restaurants, and shows—it’s strange that this corner keeps getting ignored.
Adding to the frustration, this closure also marks the end of several limited-time perks for Passholders. That big 40% dining discount wraps up July 31, and unique meet-and-greets (like Dopey in the Germany Pavilion) are going away too.
Bottom line: Restaurant Marrakesh can’t seem to catch a break. And for fans who remember what it once was, seeing it fade back into silence—again—is starting to feel like a running joke.
