Disney World Makes Major Cuts to Signature Halloween Event During Peak Season
Disney World’s Halloween celebrations have suffered another setback.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is currently running at Magic Kingdom, with events scheduled on select nights through October 31. The separately ticketed celebration began on August 7, and all remaining dates are sold out.

The party runs from 7 p.m. until midnight, although guests can enter Magic Kingdom from 4 p.m. Tickets for the 2026 event ranged from $119 to $229 per person, plus tax, depending on the date.
Highlights include Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks, and the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular. Guests can also meet characters in Halloween costumes, collect candy, and experience special effects on attractions, such as Space Mountain and Mad Tea Party.
However, several of these offerings were disrupted on October 8, leaving guests without some of the party’s most popular entertainment.
Disney Cancels Major Halloween Performances at Magic Kingdom
Heavy rain forced Walt Disney World to cancel multiple performances during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on Thursday, October 8.
The first showing of Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade was canceled, along with several performances of the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular at Cinderella Castle.
The parade typically features the Headless Horseman riding down Main Street, U.S.A., followed by Mickey Mouse, Disney villains, Haunted Mansion ghosts, and other characters.

Meanwhile, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular stars the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus (1993), who join forces with Disney villains including Maleficent, Oogie Boogie, and Dr. Facilier.
Disney eventually staged the second parade during a break in the rain, bringing it forward from its usual scheduled time. However, the Headless Horseman was absent.
Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular went ahead at 10 p.m. The fireworks show features Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), projections on Cinderella Castle, and appearances from Disney characters.
Other entertainment was reportedly affected. One guest claimed that Stitch failed to appear at his designated character greeting location during the event.
Stitch has a new role at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in 2026, appearing alongside Lilo and Angel in a masquerade at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland.

Following the cancellations, Disney sent guests an apology through the My Disney Experience app, confirming that their Halloween party tickets had been converted into regular theme park admission.
“Your event ticket has automatically been converted to a 1-day ticket with Park Hopper option to any Walt Disney World® theme park, valid for one year from the date of your original event ticket,” the My Disney Experience app notification read.
The replacement ticket allows guests to visit multiple Walt Disney World theme parks on the same day, subject to applicable admission requirements.

However, it does not provide admission to another Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
More Disney World Halloween Parties Could Face Disruptions
This was not the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party affected by rain in 2026.
Guests attending earlier events reported modifications to the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular and Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade.
One visitor claimed that parade performers walked along the route instead of performing their usual choreography because of the weather.

Another guest, who spent six days at Walt Disney World, reported persistent rain throughout their vacation, including another evening at Magic Kingdom when the weather briefly improved for the fireworks.
While c does not automatically force Disney to cancel its Halloween parties, outdoor entertainment may be delayed or canceled when conditions become unsafe.
Shows staged outside Cinderella Castle are particularly vulnerable, while parades can be affected by wet surfaces and thunderstorms.
The disruptions come as Florida faces further weather concerns.
Hurricane Isaias strengthened into a Category 3 storm on October 9, threatening the northern Gulf Coast with damaging winds, flooding, and dangerous storm surge.
The Florida Panhandle was among the areas facing the greatest threat, although Orlando remained outside the hurricane’s projected landfall area.
Disney has not announced any resort-wide closures linked to the storm.
Meanwhile, strengthening El Niño conditions could contribute to wetter weather in Florida during the coming winter, although this does not guarantee further disruptions at Walt Disney World.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is scheduled to return on October 13, 15, 16, 18, 22, 23, 25, 27, 29, and 31.
Every remaining date is sold out, and Disney has not announced any permanent changes to the event’s entertainment schedule.
Guests attending upcoming parties should check My Disney Experience for showtime changes and weather-related cancellations.
