Disney World Guests Lose an Hour Before Magic Kingdom Fireworks Starting October 5

Happily Ever After is moving to an earlier time as Walt Disney World heads into the fall months. The adjustment won’t happen all at once, either. Disney will move the nighttime spectacular earlier twice over the next several weeks, eventually bringing the show forward by a full hour compared to its current schedule.

For families planning an upcoming Disney World vacation, that could change how they organize their entire evening at Magic Kingdom.

Happily Ever After Will Move to 9:00 P.M.

As of August 20, Happily Ever After is scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. on select nights at Magic Kingdom.

That changes beginning August 31, when the show moves up 30 minutes to a 9:30 p.m. start time. Disney will make another adjustment a little more than a month later.

Beginning October 5, Happily Ever After will start at 9:00 p.m. on select evenings. That puts the fireworks a full hour earlier than the current 10:00 p.m. schedule.

The approximately 18-minute show remains the same. It’s simply the timing that guests will need to watch as their vacation approaches.

Disney regularly adjusts nighttime entertainment schedules as daylight hours change. With the sun setting earlier during the fall and winter, nighttime shows can also begin earlier.

Still, a one-hour difference can have a bigger effect on a Magic Kingdom day than guests might initially expect.

Your Magic Kingdom Evening Could Look Different

Many families treat Happily Ever After as the centerpiece of their final few hours inside Magic Kingdom.

Guests may schedule dinner before the show, spend their evening riding attractions, and then make their way toward Cinderella Castle before the fireworks begin.

With the show moving to 9:00 p.m., all of that planning may need to happen earlier.

Anyone hoping to secure a preferred viewing location will need to keep the new time in mind. The same applies to guests making dining plans or deciding how many attractions they can experience before heading toward the castle.

For families with younger children, however, the earlier start could be welcome news. A 10:00 p.m. fireworks show can make for a very late night after a full day inside Magic Kingdom. A 9:00 p.m. performance gives those families an opportunity to experience Happily Ever After without stretching the evening quite as late.

Depending on Magic Kingdom’s operating hours, other visitors may choose to keep enjoying attractions after the fireworks instead of immediately heading toward the park exit.

Don’t Expect Fireworks Every Night

Fall also brings another complication to the Magic Kingdom entertainment calendar.

Happily Ever After does not perform on evenings when Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party takes place.

Guests visiting during Halloween season should pay particularly close attention to their chosen Magic Kingdom date.

If seeing Happily Ever After is an important part of the trip, visitors will need to make sure they’re visiting on an evening when the show is actually scheduled.

For now, the biggest date to remember is October 5.

That’s when Happily Ever After moves to its new 9:00 p.m. start time on select nights, giving Magic Kingdom guests an earlier ending to one of Walt Disney World’s biggest nighttime experiences.
