A Walt Disney World Resort Guest recently shared their story of being hospitalized after an unsettling incident in the Parks.
Walt Disney World Resort is home to four immersive theme parks in Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. In addition to the theme parks, there are two world-class water parks in Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, as well as the shopping and entertainment district, Disney Springs.
Though Disney World Guests come to enjoy attractions like Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, and “it’s a small world”, Disney is about so much more than the rides.
Guests come to enjoy all kinds of delectable food at the Disney Parks, Disney Resorts, and at Disney Springs. Skipper Canteen, Be Our Guest, Cinderella’s Royal Table, Primetime Cafe, Via Napoli, Hollywood Brown Derby, and Tusker House are just some of the restaurants you can enjoy while on a Disney World vacation.
However, one incident at a popular Disney Resort restaurant did not go as planned for one Guest, as they landed in the hospital. The Guest shared that they ate a crab cake at Geyser Point Bar & Grill at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and became violently ill hours later. They became so ill, as a matter of fact, that they landed in the Emergency Room and stayed there for several hours.
“I was extremely sick. Ended up in the ER,” the Guest said. “Only thing I can assume I ate that could’ve caused it was that crab cake, just trying to see if anyone else had it happen too.”

Food poisoning can happen anywhere, but it should be noted that Disney takes extra special care of its food to ensure that this doesn’t happen. Though instances of food poisoning still occur from time to time, Disney Cast Members work hard to make sure that food is properly stored and served.
Disney takes pride in keeping its property clean for Guests, and stories like this are the exception, not the rule.
