Disney World Guest Died at Hollywood Studios, Cast Member Explains
A visit to Walt Disney World Resort is often a dream come true, filled with magical moments and cherished memories. However, like any major tourist attraction, unfortunate and sometimes tragic incidents do occur.
With millions of visitors each year, Disney World is staffed by thousands of cast members who work tirelessly to create an unforgettable experience. These employees witness countless interactions daily, and as a result, they often have intriguing behind-the-scenes stories to share. While many tales highlight the enchantment of working at “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” some reveal a more sobering reality.
A recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit brought some of these stories to light. One user, who identified themselves as a former Disney employee, invited questions from Reddit’s massive community. One question in particular stood out: “Most messed up thing you witnessed in the park?”
“One day I had a shift as a leader (manager) at Hollywood Studios. I saw a man fall down on Sunset Boulevard, and he stayed down. I called 911 (I probably called 911 once a week or so working there) and we had medics there within a few minutes,” the cast member recalled. “The guy died of a heart attack right there in front of me. Other cast members and security had formed a circle around him by then to protect him, but he was there for a while before he was taken away.”
Reflecting on the experience, they added, “That was probably 5ish years ago and I still think about it all the time. He was on vacation with his family and was from out of state.”
Another cast member shared a harrowing tale involving Space Mountain. According to their account, a guest suffered a gruesome injury when his finger was severed while on the ride. The employee was asked to search for the missing finger, though another cast member ultimately found it first. The guest was rushed to the hospital, where the severed finger was reportedly reattached.
Sadly, tragic incidents at Disney World are not as rare as one might expect. Just last year, court documents surfaced detailing the case of a guest at Disney Springs who suffered a severe allergic reaction after dining at Raglan Road and later passed away. The guest, a medical doctor, had reportedly informed the restaurant multiple times about her allergies but was allegedly served non-allergen-free food.
