Disney World Shuts Down Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Area in Hollywood Studios
One of the most visible corners of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge disappeared behind construction walls overnight, and Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t said a word about why.
Plywood Arrives in Batuu

Guests making their way into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios from the Grand Avenue entrance on March 23 found construction walls had appeared around the area housing the land’s prominent A-Wing resistance ship prop — one of the first things visitors encounter when stepping onto Batuu. WDWNT and BlogMickey both documented the new barriers on Facebook, with photos showing the ship barely visible above the plywood from certain vantage points:
The A-Wing sits directly across from Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, placing it at one of the most trafficked intersections in the entire land. Its sudden enclosure is difficult to miss for anyone entering from that direction. However, the attraction and its queue are operating without disruption.
Walt Disney World Resort has issued no statement on the project: not what triggered it, not what’s being done to the ship, and not when the walls are expected to come down.
A Land Deep in Maintenance Mode

Earlier this month, scaffolding appeared around part of the Millennium Falcon structure outside Smugglers Run — another project Disney hasn’t publicly explained. The timing there points strongly to cosmetic preparation ahead of a major milestone: Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is launching an entirely new mission storyline tied to The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026) later this year, and the exterior of the show building appears to be getting a freshen-up before the spotlight hits it.
Meanwhile, the land itself is on the verge of a significant identity shift. Both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort are rolling out a timeline expansion that will divide Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge between its existing sequel-era setting and the original trilogy — bringing Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa into the land for the first time. Disneyland Resort makes that transition on April 29, while Walt Disney World Resort has not announced a date.
