Disney World Confirms Popular Resort Pool Will Close, More Construction Coming in 2027

Another Disney World resort is preparing for some significant changes, and visitors planning future vacations may want to reconsider when they book their stay.

Disney has confirmed several upcoming refurbishment projects that will affect guest accommodations and recreational amenities at one of its well-known hotels.

While the improvements are meant to keep the property in good condition, the construction schedule could create some headaches for guests hoping to enjoy a relaxing vacation.

And with the latest projects extending into 2028, the resort won’t be completely finished with its planned updates anytime soon.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Construction Continues

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is preparing for another busy period of refurbishment work.

The Deluxe Resort, located near Magic Kingdom, has already been dealing with exterior construction for more than two years.

Work originally began in August 2024, and Disney currently expects the project to finish in late 2026.

Throughout the refurbishment, the resort has continued welcoming guests, although some visitors may encounter construction noise and partially blocked views.

According to BlogMickey, Disney has now confirmed additional improvements scheduled for 2027 and 2028.

The next phase will focus on the hotel’s guest rooms.

Disney plans to refurbish those accommodations between July and September 2027.

The company hasn’t provided specific details about the changes, so it’s unclear whether guests will see significant room updates or smaller improvements.

However, the project means another round of work will take place at the resort during the summer vacation season.

The announcement also follows renovations at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins, which received their own refurbishment in 2025.

Disney Confirms Temporary Closure of Main Resort Pool

Guests visiting Wilderness Lodge in early 2028 will face another inconvenience.

Disney has scheduled a refurbishment of Copper Creek Springs Pool beginning in January 2028.

The project is expected to continue through spring, temporarily taking the resort’s main swimming pool out of service.

Copper Creek Springs Pool is a popular recreational area featuring a waterslide, making it an important amenity for families staying at the hotel.

Its temporary closure could be frustrating for visitors who enjoy spending afternoons relaxing by the water.

Fortunately, guests will still have access to another swimming area.

Boulder Ridge Cove Pool is expected to remain available throughout the project.

However, families hoping to experience the main pool and waterslide will have to wait until the refurbishment is complete.

Disney has not provided a specific reopening date.

Disney World Guests Should Prepare for More Changes

The latest announcement means Wilderness Lodge will have undergone several different refurbishment projects between 2024 and 2028.

By the time the scheduled work finishes, Disney will have addressed the resort’s exterior, guest rooms, Disney Vacation Club accommodations, and main swimming pool.

While these updates should benefit future visitors, guests staying during construction may have a different experience.

For families spending considerable money on a Deluxe Resort, access to amenities and a peaceful atmosphere can be just as important as the room itself.

That’s why checking refurbishment schedules before booking is especially important.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will continue welcoming guests throughout the upcoming projects, but visitors should be prepared for possible construction-related inconveniences.

With additional work scheduled through spring 2028, families may want to review their vacation dates carefully before choosing this popular Disney World hotel.
