Disney World Confirms Popular Experience Will Require Virtual Queue Starting November 11

Walt Disney World is preparing for another busy holiday season, but guests hoping to enjoy one returning experience will need to follow some important rules beginning November 11.

As Christmas celebrations take over the resort, visitors can expect seasonal entertainment, festive decorations, and familiar traditions throughout Disney World.

However, not every experience will operate with a traditional standby line.

Disney has confirmed that a virtual queue system will return for a popular seasonal offering, meaning guests must secure a spot through their phones before participating.

And with limited availability and specific enrollment times, families who arrive unprepared could miss out entirely.

Disney World Brings Back Virtual Queue November 11

Beginning November 11, 2026, Santa Claus will officially return to Disney Springs, welcoming families for another holiday season.

However, meeting Santa won’t be as simple as walking up and joining a line.

Disney has confirmed that guests must use a virtual queue through the My Disney Experience app to access the seasonal meet-and-greet.

Santa will greet visitors at Santa’s Marketplace, located near Disney’s Pin Traders in the Marketplace section of Disney Springs.

The experience will remain available through December 24, giving families several weeks to participate before Christmas.

Disney has used a virtual queue for its Santa experience during previous holiday seasons, so the requirement isn’t entirely new.

Still, it creates an important distinction for guests who might expect a traditional character meet-and-greet.

There will be no standby line available for visitors who fail to secure a virtual queue spot.

That means guests hoping to meet Santa should familiarize themselves with the process before arriving at Disney Springs.

Guests Will Have Five Chances Each Day

Fortunately, Disney will offer multiple opportunities to enter the virtual queue throughout the day.

Beginning November 11, enrollment windows will open daily at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m.

Guests must use the My Disney Experience app to join, and Disney requires the person making the reservation to be physically present at Disney Springs.

This means visitors cannot secure their place from a hotel room before heading to the shopping district.

One person can register a group of up to 10 guests, allowing families to enter together without everyone needing to join individually.

However, securing a spot isn’t guaranteed.

Availability is limited, and guests could encounter full enrollment windows during particularly busy periods.

Once a group successfully joins, visitors can explore Disney Springs while waiting for their turn.

The person who entered the queue will receive a push notification when it’s time to return.

That notification provides access to a digital entry code, which guests will need when arriving at Santa’s Marketplace.

More Than Just a Visit With Santa

Disney is also adding another festive element to this year’s experience.

Santa’s Marketplace will feature fresh milk and cookies, with Dairy Does More hosting the seasonal location.

The meet-and-greet welcomes visitors of all ages, allowing families to enjoy the experience together.

Children can also write letters to Santa at Once Upon a Toy and mail them to the North Pole.

That activity gives families another opportunity to celebrate the season, even if they cannot secure a virtual queue spot.

Meanwhile, Disney Springs will welcome back its popular Christmas Tree Stroll on November 11.

The seasonal experience, which continues through January 3, 2027, will feature decorated trees inspired by Disney favorites and other recognizable brands.

New additions include trees themed to Bluey, Monsters, Inc. (2001), and Hallmark.

A Hallmark pop-up shop will also offer holiday merchandise, ornaments, and gifts.

What Guests Should Know Before Visiting

Although Disney’s virtual queue eliminates the need to wait in a lengthy physical line, it also requires guests to plan ahead.

Families should have the My Disney Experience app ready, enable notifications, and arrive at Disney Springs before their preferred enrollment window.

Guests who miss one opportunity can try another scheduled window, although availability remains limited.

For anyone hoping to meet Santa during the 2026 holiday season, the biggest rule is straightforward.

A virtual queue spot is required, and Disney won’t offer a traditional standby alternative.

With the experience returning November 11, families should prepare before arriving rather than risk missing one of Disney Springs’ most popular Christmas traditions.
