Staying near EPCOT can come with some major advantages during a Walt Disney World vacation.
Guests can remain close to two theme parks, enjoy plenty of nearby dining, and potentially spend less time relying on buses to get around property.
Disney has extended ongoing refurbishment work at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn into next year. As part of those plans, several resort amenities will become unavailable for months.
Major BoardWalk Closure Begins in January
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn has been undergoing general refurbishment work in select areas, with the project previously scheduled to wrap up in late 2026.
That timeline has been extended.
Work is now expected to continue into early 2027, and guests staying at the resort will encounter an additional closure beginning January 11.

Luna Park Pool will close for routine maintenance from January 11 through April 2027.
The closure won’t affect only the pool.
The Luna Park Crazy Play Area and Leaping Horses Libations will also become unavailable during the same period.
For guests planning to spend nearly every day inside Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom, that may not be enough to reconsider a BoardWalk reservation.
Families planning significant resort time could feel differently.
Should Guests Stay Somewhere Else?
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn isn’t closing completely.
The hotel will continue welcoming guests during the refurbishment, so travelers shouldn’t interpret the closure as a shutdown of the entire resort.
Instead, several amenities surrounding the feature pool will temporarily disappear from the experience.
BoardWalk will also retain one of its biggest selling points: location.
Its position near EPCOT gives guests convenient access to the park’s International Gateway. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is also accessible from the BoardWalk area, making the resort especially appealing for visitors prioritizing those two parks.
Still, a months-long pool closure is something guests should consider before spending money on a stay.
It also isn’t the only extended hotel refurbishment currently affecting Disney World.
Disney’s Old Key West Resort has ongoing work at its Hospitality House. That project was originally supposed to finish in mid-September, but its completion has shifted to sometime this fall.
Refurbishment timelines can always change as projects progress.
For now, anyone considering Disney’s BoardWalk Inn between January 11 and April 2027 should know exactly what won’t be available before finalizing their vacation plans.
