Disney World Changes Park Hours Last Minute Ahead of Important Date

Every year on May 4, fans of a galaxy far, far away come together to celebrate Star Wars Day at Walt Disney World Resort. Known as May the Fourth, this day brings special excitement to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, home of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

This year, guests can look forward to an even longer day of adventure. On Sunday, May 4, Hollywood Studios will open earlier and close later, allowing more time to experience everything Batuu has to offer. The park will now operate from 8:30 a.m. through 10 p.m., with Early Entry available for eligible resort guests beginning at 8:00 a.m. Previously, hours were set for 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

With Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the center of the festivities, fans will be eager to pilot the Millennium Falcon on Smugglers Run, join the Resistance against the First Order on Rise of the Resistance, savor a ronto wrap, and participate in the brand-new “Reclaimed and Reforged” lightsaber experience at Savi’s Workshop. Exclusive treats will also be available across Hollywood Studios, including the Battle of Hoth Macaroon, the Wookiee Cookie, and the Chosen One Cooler. Select offerings, like themed sippers and the new Coaxium Sipper and Death Star popcorn bucket, can also be found at Disney Springs.

This year’s Star Wars Day celebration is even more meaningful, as 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode III–Revenge of the Sith (2005), George Lucas’s final entry in the prequel trilogy.

However, Hollywood Studios isn’t only about Star Wars. It’s also the place to experience beloved attractions like the Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. In the future, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be reimagined with a Muppets theme, while the Grand Avenue area transforms into Monstropolis, featuring a groundbreaking Monsters, Inc. roller coaster.

Just after Star Wars Day takes place, Walt Disney World Resort will soon mark a major milestone. On May 21, for the first time since before the pandemic, all six parks—Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon, and Blizzard Beach—will open concurrently.

While Disney may not be adding a fifth gate just yet, the upcoming debut of Universal Orlando Resort’s new Universal Epic Universe, opening May 22, is expected to bring a surge of tourism to Central Florida. With that increased energy, Walt Disney World Resort is poised for an eventful and memorable year ahead.

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his… More »
