Shula’s Steak House is set to close its doors permanently on June 15, 2025. Nestled within the Dolphin Hotel at Walt Disney World, this restaurant has long been a favorite for those seeking a unique dining experience.

It has been a go-to spot for both guests of the hotel and visitors to the theme parks, renowned for its delicious steaks and warm ambiance. This decision marks the end of an era for a beloved establishment that has been part of many memorable vacations at Disney.

The history of Shula’s Steak House runs deep, with the first location opening in 1989. Named after former Miami Dolphins football coach Don Shula, the restaurant quickly gained a reputation for its high-quality cuisine and exceptional service.

Over the years, it carved out a niche among Disney’s extensive dining options, providing guests with an opportunity to enjoy prime cuts of meat in a stylish setting. The restaurant’s commitment to quality and its connection to the legendary coach helped cement its reputation as a pillar of fine dining within the Disney resort landscape.

As Shula’s closes, excitement is brewing with the announcement of its replacement, Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina. Scheduled to open later in 2025, this new restaurant promises to bring a fresh culinary vision to the Dolphin Hotel. Bourbon Steak is known for its emphasis on high-quality ingredients, featuring a menu that celebrates American cuisine with a focus on steak and seasonal produce.

Michael Mina, a celebrated chef and restaurateur, boasts an impressive portfolio of dining establishments across the country. His influence is expected to elevate the dining experience at the Dolphin, offering guests a new favorite spot to savor delectable meals in a vibrant atmosphere. Bourbon Steak is anticipated to incorporate innovative culinary techniques and bold flavors, making it an exciting addition to the culinary lineup at Walt Disney World.

The transition from Shula’s to Bourbon Steak is just one part of a larger wave of changes occurring at the Swan and Dolphin Hotels. The resorts will undergo significant renovations and upgrades as part of a substantial $275 million overhaul. This renovation will introduce modern design elements while enhancing the guest experience.

One of the key features of the upgrades will be the expansion of event spaces. Once completed, the Swan and Dolphin will offer a staggering 469,000 square feet of meeting space, positioning them as one of the largest convention facilities in the country. This development will not only benefit business travelers but will also attract more events to the area, enriching the overall Disney World experience.

As these changes unfold, visitors to Walt Disney World can look forward to a revitalized dining scene and enhanced amenities that promise to create unforgettable experiences. With the closing of Shula’s Steak House and the forthcoming arrival of Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina, guests will witness a transformation that honors the legacy of fine dining while embracing innovative culinary trends. The future of dining at Walt Disney World is bright and filled with exciting possibilities.
