Disney Surprises Guests With Unexpected Change To Soarin’

When EPCOT guests strolled into The Land pavilion this week, many thought they knew exactly what to expect. After all, Soarin’ Around the World has been delighting visitors for years with its sweeping visuals, iconic music, and even those little scent effects that make the experience feel so real. But this time, something was different—and it had people talking almost immediately.

At first glance, the ride looked the same. Guests still soared past the Matterhorn, glided along the Great Wall of China, and flew across Africa. But Disney is famous for making changes quietly, and it turns out the surprise had nothing to do with the ride film. Instead, the update appeared on the Cast Members themselves.

Starting September 1, 2025, Soarin’ Cast Members traded in their familiar flight-attendant-inspired outfits for brand-new uniforms. The new look features a blue three-quarter sleeve shirt, navy vest, and red-accented pants, while the signature Soarin’ wings pin remains front and center. Many Cast Members have already said the update is far more comfortable than their old gear .

Now, to some guests, costumes may seem like a minor detail, but at Disney, they’re anything but. A fresh uniform rollout is rarely just about clothing—it’s often a hint about an attraction’s future. Disney doesn’t redesign wardrobe pieces for a ride they’re planning to retire. In fact, new looks are usually a sign that the company is preparing for the long haul.

This lines up with a broader trend across Walt Disney World. Just weeks ago, Pirates of the Caribbean received modular costume updates that mirrored the versatility of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The company has been steadily modernizing wardrobe pieces across the parks, blending comfort, immersion, and flexibility.

So what does this mean for Soarin’? While we didn’t get a new film or technical overhaul (at least not yet), the uniforms strongly suggest the ride isn’t going anywhere. In fact, this could be Disney’s way of signaling that bigger updates might be in the works down the line. Think enhanced ride systems, a refreshed queue, or even a reimagined film experience.

And honestly, fans can breathe a sigh of relief. With EPCOT constantly evolving, many worried that classic rides could be overshadowed. This costume refresh is Disney’s subtle way of reassuring guests that Soarin’ will keep on flying for years to come .
