2026 Is Closure Year at Disney Springs, Another Exit Confirmed

Another storefront is about to go dark at Disney Springs.

Disney Springs has seen steady change over the past decade, with new openings often arriving alongside quiet departures. The district, located at Walt Disney World Resort, continues to evolve as tenants rotate in and out.

Originally opened in 1975 as Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village, the area has been renamed multiple times. It operated as Walt Disney World Village, Disney Village Marketplace, and Downtown Disney before relaunching as Disney Springs in 2015.

That overhaul expanded the site and introduced four distinct areas: The Landing, Marketplace, West Side, and Town Center. The latter opened in 2016, bringing in a wave of national retail brands.

Several of those brands have since exited.

Longstanding Retailer Set to Close at Disney Springs?

Johnston & Murphy will officially close its Disney Springs location on May 7, 2026.

The retailer opened with the Town Center expansion in 2016. It specialized in classic footwear, apparel, and accessories for men and women, with a focus on business-casual styles.

Its closure follows a series of recent departures across the district.

Sprinkles shut down nationwide on January 1. Retailers Francesca’s and Shore have also left Disney Springs in recent months.

No replacement tenants have been confirmed for the Johnston & Murphy location.

The Town Center area still includes Anthropologie, UNIQLO, Superdry, Sephora, Kendra Scott, Zara, Coach, and American Threads.

Dining remains a major part of the district’s lineup. Options in the same area include D-Luxe Burger, Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza, Chicken Guy!, Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill, and the Coca-Cola Store Rooftop Beverage Bar.

Retail Struggles Continue Across the District

According to Disney, Disney Springs attracts more visitors each year than Magic Kingdom.

Despite that, retail closures have continued.

Just because Disney Springs sees high foot traffic doesn’t mean every store generates enough income to justify what is likely a steep rental fee to The Walt Disney Company.

Across the retail industry, companies are facing higher operating costs, including staffing and inventory. At the same time, consumer spending has softened in some categories.

New additions are still planned for 2026.

Six Ravens, a fast-casual concept from the owners of Gideon’s Bakehouse, is set to open this year.

On the former site of DisneyQuest — and later the NBA Experience — Level99 will also open. The venue will feature more than 60 themed physical and mental challenge rooms.

Disney Springs continues to add new offerings, even as parts of its retail lineup change.
