Disney Springs Refresh Project Temporarily Removes Well-Known Town Center Store
Disney Springs has become one of the busiest places anywhere at Walt Disney World, especially during the summer months. On some nights, the crowds honestly feel comparable to what guests experience inside the parks themselves. Restaurants stay packed, parking garages fill up early, and stores remain crowded well into the evening.

That’s why even a single store closure can suddenly become noticeable.
Guests visiting Disney Springs this summer will now find the Columbia Sportswear location in Town Center temporarily closed for refurbishment. The store is expected to remain unavailable through the end of July 2026 while crews work on a major refresh both inside and outside the building.
The project reportedly includes updates to lighting, paint, fixtures, wall finishes, and even the storefront itself. While Disney fans are used to seeing construction walls around the resort these days, this particular closure stands out because of how heavily trafficked Disney Springs has become over the last several years.
For many guests, Disney Springs is no longer just a side activity.
Some families now dedicate entire vacation days to the district. Others head there at night after leaving EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Florida locals also visit regularly because it offers Disney shopping, dining, and entertainment without requiring a park ticket.
That growing popularity means every closure becomes more visible.
Columbia Sportswear may not be a Disney-owned brand, but it has become a familiar stop for many visitors since opening during the massive Disney Springs expansion years ago. The Town Center section introduced several nationally recognized retailers in an effort to make Disney Springs feel more modern and upscale compared to the older Downtown Disney era.

The strategy clearly worked.
Today, Disney Springs attracts visitors who may not even enter the parks during their Orlando trip. Tourists staying at nearby hotels often visit the district for shopping and dining alone. Disney has continued leaning into that success by constantly updating stores, restaurants, and entertainment offerings to keep the area feeling fresh.
This refurbishment fits directly into that larger trend.
Over the past few years, Walt Disney World has gone through nonstop changes across nearly every corner of the resort. Magic Kingdom continues transforming Frontierland. EPCOT has spent years updating major sections of the park. Disney’s Hollywood Studios keeps introducing new entertainment and experiences.
Even the resorts have seen significant modernization projects.
Disney Springs has quietly followed the same path.
The company appears determined to avoid letting any part of the district feel outdated. That’s especially important as Disney competes with other Orlando shopping and entertainment areas for tourists’ attention.

A refreshed storefront may sound small, but presentation matters heavily in an environment like Disney Springs.
The area is designed to feel polished, modern, and constantly evolving. Updated lighting, fixtures, and finishes help maintain that atmosphere while also keeping stores visually aligned with newer locations around the district.
Summer timing also makes this closure more noticeable.
Central Florida heat drives many guests indoors during the afternoon, and stores like Columbia Sportswear become popular places to cool off while shopping. The brand’s focus on outdoor clothing, footwear, rain gear, and lightweight apparel also fits naturally with Disney vacations, where guests spend long days walking through parks in unpredictable weather.
Now, however, those guests will simply encounter construction walls instead.
Thankfully, the refurbishment timeline appears fairly short compared to many recent Disney projects. The current target calls for reopening by late July, meaning the closure should wrap up before the heavy fall and holiday crowds begin arriving later this year.

Still, it’s another example of how Disney World never really stops changing.
Whether it’s attractions, resorts, restaurants, or retail spaces, Disney continues investing heavily in updates across the property. For longtime fans, construction walls have almost become part of the normal vacation experience.
And at Disney Springs, that evolution clearly isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
