A shopping stop at Disney Springs looks a little different right now, and guests who regularly visit Marketplace Co-Op may notice the change as soon as they walk inside.
Disney is continuing a flooring refurbishment at Marketplace Co-Op, and the project has now moved into the back half of the store. That means several shopping areas are temporarily unavailable, even though the location itself remains open.
The work follows an earlier phase that brought new flooring to the front sections of Marketplace Co-Op, including Disney Drop Shop.
Now, crews have moved farther into the building.
Large Section of Marketplace Co-Op Is Blocked
Black curtains currently separate guests from the construction area in the back of Marketplace Co-Op.
The closure prevents shoppers from accessing three smaller shops that are normally found in this part of the building. Those spaces typically carry a variety of apparel, accessories, and home goods.
It’s a fairly substantial portion of Marketplace Co-Op to have unavailable at once, especially for guests who enjoy browsing the different sections of the store.
However, Disney hasn’t closed the entire location to complete the project.
The front remains open, allowing guests to continue shopping for designer purses, clothing, accessories, and merchandise at Disney Drop Shop.
Tren-D, located next door, also remains open and accessible.
There’s Another Change Guests Should Know About
The construction affects more than shopping.
Marketplace Co-Op normally includes an indoor hallway that guests can use to reach the PhotoPass studio. The curtains surrounding the current work area block that pathway.
For the time being, guests traveling between Marketplace Co-Op and the PhotoPass studio will need to go outside.
It’s not a major detour, but regular Disney Springs visitors who are accustomed to using the interior route could easily be caught off guard.
The change should only last as long as the construction prevents access to that portion of the building.
Marketplace Co-Op Is Getting a New Look
Guests can already see the results of the refurbishment in the sections where Disney previously completed work.
The older brown flooring has been replaced by a gray speckled design, creating a noticeably different look inside Marketplace Co-Op.
Flooring replacements aren’t exactly the flashiest projects happening around Walt Disney World, but they’re part of the ongoing maintenance required to keep heavily traveled locations looking fresh.
Disney Springs receives a steady stream of visitors throughout the day, and Marketplace Co-Op sits in one of its busiest shopping areas.
Completing the work in phases also allows Disney to keep part of the store operating instead of closing Marketplace Co-Op altogether.
That comes with some inconvenience, of course. Guests have less merchandise space to explore, several shops are inaccessible, and the PhotoPass connection is temporarily blocked.
But shoppers can still visit Marketplace Co-Op while the project moves forward.
For now, expect to encounter black curtains and a smaller shopping area. Once the flooring replacement reaches the remaining portions of the building, Marketplace Co-Op should have its full space available again with a refreshed look throughout.
