Disney World Cancels Souvenir Sales, Guests Find Empty Storefronts
Walt Disney World Resort has eliminated a beloved customization service from its theme parks, leaving guests to discover empty retail spaces where they once created personalized souvenirs. The complete removal of D-Tech merchandise customization kiosks occurred quietly over the holidays, with many Disney Parks fans only now realizing they can no longer purchase the made-to-order products that had become vacation traditions for their families.
Silent Disney Springs Closure Over the Holidays

Walt Disney World Resort quietly removed the D-Tech merchandise customization shop from Marketplace Co-Op at Disney Springs in late December 2025. The closure left just one D-Tech MaDe customization location operating in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park near Space Mountain.
That final location didn’t survive into the new year. On January 1, 2026, all customization kiosks in the Magic Kingdom Park gift shop closed permanently, erasing personalized souvenirs from Walt Disney World Resort’s merchandise lineup entirely. The closures occurred without notice, leaving guests arriving for vacations to discover the kiosks had simply vanished.
What Disney Eliminated

D-Tech and MaDe kiosks allowed guests to customize phone cases, smartwatch bands, MagicBands, magnets, and other products with personalized messages, color selections, and hundreds of licensed images. Designs spanned Disney, Pixar, Marvel, The Muppets, Star Wars, and additional franchises, letting guests create made-to-order souvenirs uniquely theirs to commemorate Walt Disney World Resort vacations.
For dedicated Disney Parks fans, purchasing new D-Tech phone cases had become a vacation ritual. Every time they upgraded their smartphones, they’d visit D-Tech during their next Walt Disney World Resort trip to create a fresh customized case featuring favorite characters or meaningful designs.
Fans Discover Loss Weeks Later

Although customizable souvenirs disappeared from Disney Springs in December and Magic Kingdom Park on New Year’s Day, many Disney Parks fans only recently realized that the items had been discontinued permanently. X (formerly known as Twitter) user Alicia Stella (@AliciaStella) lamented the loss when commenting on the removal of a photo-op that previously sat near the former D-Tech location in Marketplace Co-Op at Disney Springs.
“Nevermind the photo op, the D-Tech is just gone. Gone forever,” Stella posted.

The announcement shocked numerous Disney Parks fans who had no idea that D-Tech had closed. Stunned commenters expressed sadness about losing the ability to create customizable souvenirs on future Walt Disney World Resort vacations.

“WHAaaaaa!?! Well, damn. We used to get get custom cases there almost every trip,” @NealHunterHyde replied. “Granted, didn’t buy one this last fall, the cases didn’t support MagSafe charging or stands (or something), so it wouldn’t be a case I’d actually use.”

Quality Complaints From Other Fans

Not every Disney Parks fan mourned the closure of D-Tech. Multiple commenters argued that the quality-to-price value had declined dramatically in recent years, rendering the products unworthy of their premium costs. @rainyloona wrote:
The dtech cases were bad anyways they literally scratched so easy and took the design from the back off

“It’s gone from Disneyland as well,” @guyselga confirmed. “Sucks because the cases used to be good. Then in recent years the designs scratch off almost instantly. Huge drop in quality.”

The permanent elimination of D-Tech and MaDe customization kiosks leaves Walt Disney World Resort with fewer personalization options for guests seeking unique souvenirs. While the resort still offers embroidery services and some customizable merchandise, the extensive D-Tech design library and technology-focused products have been permanently discontinued.
