Disney Shocks Fans With Emotional MCU Character Comeback
Disney just made a move that’s sending shockwaves through Marvel fandom. A deceased character is officially coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And before you ask—no, this isn’t about Robert Downey Jr. or any rumors involving Doctor Doom. This return is something else entirely.
For years, Marvel has been famous for second chances, but this one feels a little bigger. It involves a character fans thought was gone for good. Yet here we are, with Disney confirming a comeback that’s going to stir up a lot of excitement for what’s next.

A Universe That Never Stopped Growing
It’s easy to forget just how far the MCU has come since Iron Man kicked everything off back in 2008. Tony Stark’s journey sparked a chain of stories that built toward The Avengers, Infinity War, Endgame, and now a new wave of teams, such as the Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four.
As Phase 6 approaches, Marvel isn’t just looking ahead—it’s also digging into its past. That combination of nostalgia and expansion is becoming one of the studio’s favorite storytelling tricks, and this surprise comeback fits right into that plan.

Disney+ and the MCU
The MCU used to live mainly on the big screen. Now, Disney+ has completely changed the game. With shows like WandaVision, Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and She-Hulk, Marvel has found ways to explore characters more deeply and bring them back in unexpected ways.
These streaming stories give the studio flexibility to revisit old plotlines and revive characters who may have had unfinished business. That’s exactly what’s happening here.

An Epic Return
When Daredevil: Born Again returned, fans were thrilled to see Charlie Cox back as Matt Murdock and other familiar faces alongside him. But the joy didn’t last long. Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), Matt’s closest friend, was shockingly killed off early in the season.
For months, speculation ran wild. Would Foggy show up in flashbacks? Was Marvel saving him for a twist? Henson himself said he wasn’t part of Season 2, shutting down hopes.
Then came the game changer. Marvel Studios Head of Television Brad Winderbaum confirmed during New York Comic-Con that Foggy is indeed back for Season 2. Henson’s denial, according to Winderbaum, was likely just him trying not to spoil anything.
Foggy’s resurrection is officially real—and Marvel clearly has plans for him.

Marvel’s Resurrection Trend
Foggy isn’t the only one getting a second act. In fact, Phase 6 looks like it’s shaping up to be the era of returns. Vision (Paul Bettany), whose heartbreaking death at Thanos’s (Josh Brolin) hands defined Infinity War, is leading his own Disney+ series, VisionQuest.
Raza (Faran Tahir), the villain who once kidnapped Tony Stark, is also returning to the story in the same series. Ultron (James Spader) will reappear as an AI presence on Vision’s journey. And over in Avengers: Doomsday, Cyclops (James Marsden) and Professor X (Patrick Stewart) will rise again, signaling the full arrival of the X-Men in the MCU.

More Familiar Faces
That list doesn’t end there. Tommy Maximoff’s (Jett Klyne) story will continue after the events of WandaVision. Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), after sacrificing herself in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, will also return to the fight. And Loki (Tom Hiddleston)—well, Loki’s made a career out of cheating death.
The God of Mischief will once again take center stage in Avengers: Doomsday, reminding everyone that no MCU death is ever truly final.

A New Age of Comebacks
This is Marvel’s latest playbook. Between Multiverse storylines, advanced tech, and the power of streaming shows, characters who once seemed gone forever are stepping back into the spotlight. Foggy Nelson may be the latest comeback, but he certainly won’t be the last.
With Phase 6 just around the corner, Marvel is making one thing clear: in this universe, death is just another plot twist.
