Disney Enhances Security Screening for Park Guests, Effective Immediately

International Disney Park guests must now be subjected to enhanced security screening measures.

Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort have enforced security policies for years, especially in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. Guests must walk through enhanced metal detectors before entering the Disney parks, though bag checks are no longer required thanks to advanced metal detector technology. Disney cast members still search strollers, mobility devices, and any bags flagged by the security technology.

Despite the normalcy of these protocols in the United States, some international Disney Park guests aren’t used to invasive security screening. On Thursday, March 13, Hong Kong Disneyland Park guests arrived to see metal detectors where there previously were none.

According to @hkdisneyreport on Instagram, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has officially installed metal detectors before theme park entry. The account shared these photos of Disney security cast members directing guests through the new process:

Over on X (formerly Twitter), @DMK_blog shared an official statement about the updated protocols from Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.

“The safety of our guests and cast members at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) is at the forefront of everything we do,” an official Disney Park spokesperson wrote. “We continually evaluate and will make adjustments as needed. Metal detectors have been implemented at Disney resorts around the world, and we are now introducing them as part of the security screening procedures for guests entering Hong Kong Disneyland Park.”

According to this Disney Park guest, signs near the screening area thoroughly explained the process and listed prohibited items. Instructions are available in multiple languages for local and international theme park guests. See the X user’s photos below:

Yesterday (March 12, 2025), Hong Kong Disneyland Resort installed metal detectors at the main entrance. Starting TODAY (March 13, 2025), enhanced security procedures are in effect, with the main gate featuring thorough screenings and clear signage on prohibited items to help ensure a safe and magical experience for all Guests.

WHAT A JOKE SO CALLED GUARDS AT THE PARKS ENTRANCES I HAVE TWO BACKPACKS ON MY SCOOTER AT AK THE “GUARD” insisted to remove my secured backpacks to walk thru the radar and I adamantly refused and did not do it then this “GUARD” had my husband walk thru the radar with a beach towel @ kitchen towel! At MK another “GUARD” again with the same I adamantly refused and always will she put her arms and hands all over the scooter & packs removing a Mickey phone adapter case about 2 inches and had my husband open it & take out the 2 1 inch adapters how idiotic a shouting match perused she called over a guard who said all was a go and we left I WILL NOT PUT UP WITH THIS IDIOTIC TREATMENT AGAIN especially with the hugs fully pack strollers by the thousands that are packed for vacations and items are barely touched my never removed or sent thru radar GET THIS CRAP TO STOP
