Disney+ Rolls Out New Subscriber Perks After Recent Cancellation Wave

Disney+ has been catching heat for months, and at this point, it almost feels like part of the experience. Between canceled projects, content quietly disappearing, and constant shifts in strategy, plenty of subscribers have started wondering if the service is still worth keeping.

And once that thought gets planted, it spreads fast.

Disney built Disney+ to be its future, but lately it has felt more like a platform that keeps testing how far it can push fans before they finally hit cancel.

That’s why this latest move matters. Disney+ has rolled out a change that feels like a genuine attempt to win people back. It’s not the type of fix most fans expected, but it’s clearly designed to make the subscription feel more valuable again.

Disney+ Started as Disney’s Big Streaming Takeover

When Disney+ launched, it wasn’t just another streaming option. Disney treated it like a significant power move. The platform became home to classics, Pixar films, Marvel content, and Star Wars projects all in one place.

For a while, it worked almost too well.

Disney+ quickly became a must-have for families, casual viewers, and franchise fans. People loved having everything under one roof, and the service initially felt like a steal compared to cable and other streaming subscriptions.

But as the years went on, subscribers began to notice a shift.

Disney+ Stopped Feeling Like a Bargain

Disney+ is no longer the budget-friendly streaming service it once was. Price hikes have become one of the biggest complaints, and for many households, the service is starting to feel harder to justify.

People don’t mind paying for quality, but Disney+ has also canceled content, removed titles, and made changes without much warning. That combination leaves subscribers feeling like they’re paying more while getting less.

And in today’s economy, streaming services are often the first thing to get cut when budgets tighten.

A Merger Grows Controversy

Disney’s growing push to fold Hulu deeper into its streaming ecosystem has also made some fans uneasy. Hulu always felt like Disney’s separate platform, with more adult programming and a different tone.

Bundling sounded convenient at first, but as Disney absorbed Hulu, it felt like the company was tightening its grip on streaming.

When one company starts controlling more and more, consumers expect fewer choices, fewer deals, and higher prices. Even if the Hulu move made sense from a business perspective, it made Disney feel even more powerful.

Disney+ Shifted Strategies Instead of Announcing a Blockbuster

Instead of trying to win people back with one massive show announcement, Disney+ is taking a different approach. The service is leaning heavily into subscriber perks.

That shift feels intentional. Disney clearly knows cancellations are happening, but instead of lowering prices, it’s trying to make the subscription feel useful beyond entertainment.

And one perk in particular stands out.

This Deal Feels Like the Biggest Hook Yet

The newest perk is perfect for people who love to grab athletic wear, shoes, or anything in between from Adidas.

Just by being a Disney+ subscriber, you can save 30% across adidas.com and the Adidas app through April 23, 2026.

That’s a serious amount of savings, primarily since Adidas is known for being high-quality and, therefore, higher priced than other brands. A discount that big feels less like a gimmick and more like a genuine attempt to stop subscribers from canceling.

The Perks Keep Stacking Up

The Adidas discount is only one part of the larger perks rollout. Disney+ has been piling on benefits fast.

Subscribers can access a free 3-month Kroger Boost membership, six months of DashPass, and a complimentary D23 Gold membership. Disney also included three months of CLEAR+, plus discounts like 15% off Funko.com and 15% off Loungefly.com.

On top of that, Disney offers monthly mystery capsules with digital pins, free Wonder Man comics through Marvel Unlimited, and special Walt Disney World ticket offers.

There’s even a 3-month free trial of Spotify Premium, along with sweepstakes incentives like a chance to win a trip to the Disneyland Resort 70th celebration and opportunities tied to the premiere of Disney and Pixar’s Hoppers (2026).

Disney Is Trying Everything Except the One Fix Fans Want

Let’s be honest. These perks feel like Disney trying to stop the bleeding.

Some of them are genuinely good, and they might keep subscribers from canceling in the short term. But fans keep coming back to the same point: Disney+ needs to lower its prices.

It’s also worth noting that Disney didn’t report subscriber numbers at the last earnings call. Add in the leadership shift with Josh D’Amaro becoming CEO, and it’s possible Disney+ could see more changes down the line.

But for now, Disney is trying to buy back goodwill as quickly as possible: by giving subscribers perks that actually feel worth something.
