Disney Removes Kids-Only Space at This Luxury Resort

Disney’s Riviera Resort is temporarily closing its S’il Vous Play water play area from February 16-19, 2026, for routine maintenance, affecting families with young children staying at the deluxe resort during that four-day window. The interactive Disney splash zone designed specifically for toddlers and young children will be unavailable while crews complete maintenance work, though all three main resort pools remain open throughout the closure.

The S’il Vous Play area serves as the resort’s primary kids’ water play space, featuring shallow water features, sprayers, and interactive elements themed to the beloved ballet-dancing characters from Disney’s Fantasia. For families with toddlers staying at Riviera Resort, this splash zone often functions as the main aquatic activity during resort days when parents want children to play in water without the depth concerns of traditional pools.

What Stays Open at Disney

The main Riviera Pool remains fully operational during the maintenance period, offering family-friendly water fun with cascading water features and a corkscrew slide contained in a 30-foot tower. The slide winds down nearly two stories into the feature pool, providing thrills for older children and adventurous younger kids meeting height requirements.

The Beau Soleil Pool also stays open for guests seeking quieter, more relaxing pool time away from the higher-energy family atmosphere of the main pool. This option works for adults and older children who want to swim laps or float peacefully.

Bar Riva, the open-air pool bar, continues operating with frozen cocktails, wine, beer, sandwiches, salads, and burgers for guests lounging poolside.

Other Resort Activities

Disney’s Riviera Resort offers daily activities weather permitting, including music, games, and programming for kids of all ages. Guests should check schedules upon arrival to see what’s planned during their stay, as these can provide alternative entertainment for children affected by the play area closure.

Movies Under the Stars, Disney’s outdoor movie screening program, continues operating during maintenance. These evening screenings give parents options for entertaining children during days when S’il Vous Play is unavailable.

Dining and Amenities

All resort dining options remain fully operational. Le Petit Café offers Parisian café service with cappuccinos and pastries, transforming into a lounge with drinks and small plates after sunset. Primo Piatto provides quick-service options with mobile ordering available through My Disney Experience.

Topolino’s Terrace continues serving rooftop dinner with handcrafted pasta and sweeping views, while the Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends character dining operates during mornings.

The Athlétique Fitness Center stays open for guests maintaining workout routines, featuring Technogym equipment complimentary to resort guests.

Disney Transportation Access

Riviera Resort’s location on the Disney Skyliner provides quick gondola access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. The Skyliner also connects to Caribbean Beach Resort, Pop Century, and Art of Animation, letting guests explore other resort dining options.

Brief Disney Timeline

The closure runs just four days from February 16-19, with the play area scheduled to reopen Friday, February 20. This relatively short maintenance window minimizes impact compared to extended closures affecting resort experiences for weeks or months.

Routine maintenance closures are standard across Walt Disney World resort hotels, ensuring amenities remain in good working condition and safe for guest use. Water play areas require regular maintenance to address wear on interactive features, ensure proper water treatment, and repair damage from constant use.

Planning Around It

For families with young children who chose Riviera Resort partly because of S’il Vous Play, the closure represents minor inconvenience during expensive Disney vacations. Parents who built resort day plans around toddlers playing in the splash zone need to adjust expectations and find alternatives during those four days.

The main Riviera Pool’s slide and water features provide options for many children, though parents of very young toddlers not yet comfortable in deeper water may find standard pool environments less suitable than the dedicated shallow play area.

The closure ends Friday, meaning guests checking in for weekend stays beginning February 20 or later have full access to all pool amenities including S’il Vous Play. Only guests staying Sunday through Thursday that specific week face temporary loss of the kids’ water play area.

Disney’s Riviera Resort remains a deluxe property offering sophisticated theming, excellent dining, convenient Skyliner access, and multiple pool environments even with the brief closure. The four-day maintenance window represents standard resort upkeep rather than permanent removal of family amenities.
