Disney Releases Jaw-Dropping Kylo Ren Truth Years After ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’

It’s been nearly a decade since Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) landed in theaters and sent shockwaves through the fandom. The film was polarizing, sparking endless debates over story choices and the direction of the saga.

Yet through all the noise, one character has continued to dominate the conversation: Kylo Ren. A massive update tied to him has finally been confirmed, answering a mystery that’s bugged fans for years.

Rey and Kylo’s Complicated Connection

From the moment The Force Awakens (2015) premiered, the relationship between Rey and Kylo Ren was set up as the heart of the trilogy. Rey stood for hope and renewal, while Kylo embodied legacy, conflict, and the lure of the dark side. Their bond was as much about identity as it was about lightsaber duels.

The Last Jedi leaned into that tension with the unforgettable throne room fight, where Rey and Kylo briefly fought together before splitting apart again. It was daring storytelling, but not without backlash. Many felt the film mishandled established lore, leaving arcs like Kylo’s feeling half-formed.

Divisive but Unforgettable

The sequel trilogy fractured the fanbase. Some hailed The Last Jedi as bold, while others said it broke too much of what made Star Wars special. But love it or hate it, Kylo Ren emerged as one of the most layered characters. His presence was undeniable, so Disney built much of its theme park storytelling around him.

Kylo Ren at Disney Parks

When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened in 2019, Kylo Ren was front and center. Guests regularly encounter him patrolling Batuu, leading stormtroopers, and searching for Resistance fighters. He became the face of the First Order, solidifying his importance to Disney’s version of the saga.

He also appears across multiple attractions. Star Tours includes him in its randomized ride sequences, Smugglers Run places him in the Millennium Falcon’s mission backdrop, and Rise of the Resistance makes him the main villain in one of the most ambitious rides Disney has ever created.

Even those who weren’t thrilled about the sequel trilogy can’t deny the thrill of facing off against Kylo in person.

The Missing Knights of Ren

Yet, for all the focus on Kylo, one element never quite added up. The Knights of Ren were teased in The Force Awakens but were completely absent in The Last Jedi. This raised countless questions. How could Kylo lead a band of warriors that never showed up when it mattered most? Fans speculated endlessly, and the Knights became one of the most infamous gaps in the trilogy’s storytelling.

The Comic Explanation

The mystery has finally been solved—not on screen, but in Marvel’s “Star Wars: Legacy of Vader.” The comics revealed that Snoke himself cast out the Knights. Calling them “rabble,” Snoke went so far as to strike them down with Force lightning and sent stormtroopers after them, forcing the group to retreat.

This detail reframes their absence in the first two films. They weren’t forgotten; they were deliberately removed from Kylo’s side. By the time The Rise of Skywalker (2019) arrived, the Knights had shifted their allegiance to Emperor Palpatine, explaining why they fought against Ben Solo rather than with him.

Why It Still Matters

For years, fans accused Lucasfilm of mishandling the Knights of Ren. The comics now show there was intent, even if the execution left audiences divided. More importantly, it strengthens Kylo Ren’s place in the saga as a character surrounded by mythology, betrayal, and unanswered questions.

Whether you loved or hated the sequels, Kylo Ren continues to shape the galaxy far, far away—from park attractions to comics and beyond.
