Disney Quietly Slips Out Warning That Could Affect Your Fall Vacation

When you plan a Disney World trip, the resort you choose is just as important as the parks you’ll visit. Disney offers something for every type of traveler—whether it’s the budget-friendly Value resorts, the lavish Deluxe stays, or the sweet spot right in between: the Moderates. These mid-tier resorts are favorites for families who want more than the basics without splurging to the top.

One of the most beloved options in this category is Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter. Known for its quaint size, charming New Orleans design, and easy boat rides to Disney Springs, it’s often called one of Disney’s hidden gems. Guests adore the themed pool, the riverside setting, and, of course, the famous Mickey-shaped beignets.

But if you’re staying there this fall, Disney has quietly let slip a notice you’ll want to know about. From August 26 through late September, the French Quarter lobby will be under refurbishment. While the space isn’t shutting down, guests have been warned they may “see or hear” maintenance during the day. In other words, if you were planning to enjoy a quiet coffee in the lobby, the experience may come with background noise.

This lobby project follows a string of updates at the Port Orleans resorts. Earlier this year, over 1,000 rooms were refurbished at French Quarter, keeping the charm intact but modernizing the look. Its sister property, Riverside, is still deep in construction that won’t wrap up until 2026. Add in the recent bridge repairs after a truck accident, and it’s clear this corner of Walt Disney World has been busy with changes.

Should you rethink your trip? Not really. The lobby will stay open, and all amenities will still be available. Most guests who spend their days in the parks may never even notice. Still, for those who enjoy downtime at the resort, it’s worth knowing the peaceful vibe might feel a little different. In the end, these updates are part of Disney’s effort to keep its resorts fresh and fan-favorite for years to come.

A frequent visitor of Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, Andrew will likely be found freefalling on Twilight Zone Tower of Terror or enjoying Pirates of the Caribbean. Over at Universal, he'll be taking in the thrills of the Jurassic World Velocicoaster and Revenge of the Mummy
