There’s plenty changing at Disney’s Animal Kingdom these days, but not every update happens inside the park gates.
While guests continue watching construction reshape DinoLand U.S.A., Disney has quietly completed another project that could affect nearly everyone visiting the park.
The company has officially opened an expansion of Animal Kingdom’s bus depot, adding new transportation stops and additional guest amenities outside the entrance.
Although it may not attract the same attention as a new attraction, the improvement is designed to help thousands of guests move around Walt Disney World more efficiently.
New Bus Stops Are Now Open
The transportation expansion has been under construction since late 2025 and is now welcoming guests.
Disney added four new bus stops at the end of one of the existing rows in the bus depot. The new locations serve guests traveling to Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
Expanding the bus depot gives Disney additional space to organize guest traffic during some of the busiest parts of the day.
More Than Just Additional Stops
The project goes beyond simply adding new loading areas.
The expanded section includes covered waiting areas with themed signs, large ceiling fans, queue railings, new pavement, and extra lighting. Those features provide more comfortable waiting conditions while helping organize boarding lines during heavy crowds.
Anyone leaving Animal Kingdom at park closing has likely experienced long transportation lines. Extra capacity won’t eliminate those waits entirely, but it should help Disney better manage the steady stream of guests leaving the park.
Supporting Animal Kingdom’s Future
The timing fits with everything else happening across the park.
Disney is continuing work on Pueblo Esperanza, the Tropical Americas expansion replacing DinoLand U.S.A. Once complete, the new land will bring attractions based on Encanto (2021) and Indiana Jones while reshaping a significant portion of Animal Kingdom.
Projects like that often bring increased attendance, making transportation upgrades an important part of long-term planning.
As Disney continues investing in the park, backstage and operational improvements help support the guest experience just as much as visible additions.

Transportation isn’t usually the first thing guests think about when planning a Disney vacation, but it plays a role in every visit.
Whether guests are park hopping, returning to their Disney Resort hotel, or starting their morning adventure, efficient transportation helps keep vacations running smoothly.
