Disney Just Erased an Entire Princess, Removed From Company Library

For nearly a hundred years, Disney princesses have been more than just animated characters—they’ve been cultural icons. From Snow White’s innocent charm to Moana’s bold bravery, each new heroine tends to leave a mark, complete with songs, merchandise, and meet-and-greets at the parks. So when Disney quietly decided to scrap an entire princess movie that was already deep in production, fans were left scratching their heads.

This wasn’t just a delay or a simple rework. The film was reportedly going to introduce a brand-new Persian princess and had been planned for a 2024 release. But then? Radio silence. No teasers, no promo art, no voice cast reveal. The entire thing just disappeared—as if it had never existed in the first place.

It’s not unusual for studios to cancel projects behind the scenes, but this one stings. A whole character, a potential role model, erased from Disney history before she even had a chance to shine.

And here’s where it gets more frustrating.

With movies like Moana 2 and Inside Out 2 pulling big numbers, Disney has clearly shifted its focus to what’s safe and familiar. After recent box office misfires—Lightyear, Wish, Strange World—executives seem hesitant to roll the dice on original stories. And in today’s high-stakes environment, a brand-new princess might have just felt like too big of a risk.

But it’s not just about numbers. What hurts is the lost opportunity. This new character could’ve sparked a cultural moment. She might have become the next big Disney icon. Instead, we’ll never know.

The cancellation also comes after a tidal wave of backlash over Disney’s live-action Snow White remake, which became a lightning rod for criticism. Some believe the decision to quietly ditch the Persian princess film was Disney’s way of playing defense—cutting anything that could potentially stir the pot.

Still, there was no formal announcement. No explanation. Just a quiet disappearance.

And now? She’s gone. Not because fans rejected her. Not because the story flopped. But because she never even got the chance to begin.

  1. Really too bad that you can’t read between the lines. A new Persian princess translates today as a new Iranian princess. Not really something people want to see in today’s hot political environment. If you have been paying attention to recent Disney advertising the are pushing the traditional Americana themes.

  2. Really? This is news…she can’t be erased from history if she was never there to begin with…and really? We’re upset about the lost possibility of a cultural movement? Give me a freaking break, are we really this desperate for news? Is this really keeping you up at night? If so you have bigger issues. .geeez
