Disney Just Dropped a New Tease for the Muppets Coaster at Hollywood Studios
Something big is quietly taking shape at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it’s centered around one of the park’s most recognizable thrill rides. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has been closed for its major transformation, but now, the picture is becoming much clearer—and the finish line is finally in sight.

Disney has confirmed that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is set to open later this summer, and it’s shaping up to be a completely different experience from what guests remember. While the ride system itself isn’t changing, almost everything else is.
Instead of following a traditional rock band, guests will now be thrown into the unpredictable world of The Muppets. The story revolves around Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, who are preparing for a massive concert. Naturally, things don’t go as planned. The band goes missing, and what starts as a simple studio visit quickly turns into a chaotic rush across Hollywood to get them to the show on time.
That setup gives Disney a lot more flexibility with storytelling. The original version leaned heavily into music and speed, but this one adds humor, character interactions, and a sense of unpredictability that fits The Muppets perfectly.
The queue is also getting a major overhaul. Guests will step inside a recording studio run by The Muppets, where familiar characters are trying—and failing—to keep things organized. It’s designed to feel active and a little out of control, which is exactly what you’d expect from this group.

Once the ride begins, the intensity stays the same. The launch, inversions, and high-speed elements aren’t going anywhere. What changes is the context. Instead of racing to a concert as a passive rider, you’re now part of a last-minute scramble, complete with music blasting and Muppet-style chaos unfolding around you.
That music will play a huge role, too. Disney has already started teasing the new soundtrack, and while the full list hasn’t been revealed yet, expectations are high. The Electric Mayhem is known for its energy, so it’s safe to assume the ride will keep that fast-paced, concert-like feel.

This update also says a lot about where Hollywood Studios is headed. The park continues to move toward experiences built around Disney-owned characters, and this change fits right into that direction. At the same time, it brings something different to the lineup—a thrill ride that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

With the opening set for later this summer, this is one of those updates that could instantly become a must-do. It keeps the ride people already love but adds a completely new layer on top of it.
And honestly, that’s what makes this one so interesting. It’s familiar—but it’s also something entirely new.
