When Walt Disney created Disneyland Park, he opened a theme park where adults and their children could enjoy time together. Parents did not need to stand on the sidelines while their children enjoyed the various rides and attractions.

And now, there are Disney parks all over the world where families can spend time together and make lasting memories. Parents can take their children to Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Shanghai Disney, Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disney.

Unfortunately, guest behavior in the theme parks has seen a huge decline in the past few years. Many people think things got a lot worse after the parks reopened after the COVID-19 pandemic. Guests seem more entitled than ever, and they are quick to get into verbal and physical altercations, be it with fellow guests or Disney cast members.

Sadly, it appears that poor adult behavior is rubbing off on the children in the parks as well.

Reddit user LtCommanderCarter recently visited Disneyland Resort and noticed some very poor behavior. So they took to the social media platform to address entitled parents and the children they let run amuck.

So we’re in line to see Daisy and my two year old is about to melt down. It’s hot, she’s tired, she wants to hug Daisy. I’m physically restraining her and telling her we have to wait our turn. It’s not fun.

Another mom just let her kid jump the line by running up and hugging Daisy. Instead of apologizing with a mortified face she just let her kid do it and then told the CM to take a picture of them.

What the hell??? I get it, kiddos are hard to wrangle and the kid running up for a hug, I’m not offended by. I also have a head strong toddler. It’s the entitlement of the mom I have an issue with.

As disappointing as it is, many commenters shared their own stories about bad guest behavior, proving that the OP’s (Original Poster) story was not an isolated incident. And a lot of commenters also agreed that parents think their children should be allowed to act any way they want, simply because they are kids.

I was getting on the carousel once & there was a particular horse I wanted. When the gates opened, I went to the horse & started climbing up. Out of nowhere, the kid, probably 5 or 6, climbs over me & gets on the horse. I said, “Excuse me!” & the kid is looking at me like, “What?” The dad walks up & asks what happened. I told him I was getting on the horse & his kid jumped up instead. He said, “This is the horse he wanted.” I said, “It’s the one I wanted too.” Then dad said, “Well, he’s a kid.” So, apparently it’s ok if someone jumps up on the horse you’re already climbing onto as long as it’s a kid. I told the cm working the ride, but she wouldn’t do anything. And no, it wasn’t Jingles.

A lot of people encouraged guests who see that kind of behavior to call the guest out and report their behavior to a cast member. Most cast members will not allow guests to cut the line and will make them either exit the attraction or make their way to the back of the line. If more guests start putting a stop to line cutting, it might become less of a problem.

It is important to note that the Disneyland Resort website specifically asks guests to show “common courtesy” to fellow guests and not engage in things like line jumping. Should a cast member observe that type of behavior, the guilty guest may find themselves being told they have to exit the line. If their behavior is particularly egregious, the guest might even be escorted out of the park.

Do you think parental entitlement and line jumping have gotten out of hand? Should Disney take a harsher stance against them? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

  1. UNRULY AND UNMANAGED CHILDREN ARE RAMPAD!
parents these days do not know how to correct bad unruly behavior when the kids are small so as they get older they are absolutely a nuisance! You can’t go to a restaurant and enjoy a meal with out kids running yelling screaming while the parents just sit there and allow this behavior. In the past this was never a daily occurrence at the parks!! It makes it so unbearable for others!! And NO KIDS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED PREFERRED VIEWING POINTS AT FIREWORKS DISPLAYS the parents are there for the fireworks to enjoy not the kids. I wish there would be times when KIDS ARE NOT ALLOWED then maybe we could have peace and quiet
