Final Day: Disney’s Beloved ‘Frozen’ Ride to Close to All Guests Tomorrow

Today marked the final day for Disney’s über-popular Frozen ride.

Few films have gripped the cultural zeitgeist quite like Frozen (2013). The animated hit centers on royal sisters Elsa and Anna, whose strained bond is tested after Elsa’s icy powers unintentionally trap their kingdom in eternal winter. Fueled by the breakout success of “Let It Go” and the polarizing charm of Olaf, Frozen became a worldwide sensation, spawning a sequel, a Broadway adaptation, and a lasting presence in Disney parks around the globe.

After dipping its toes in the Frozen-theme park arena with Frozen Ever After at the Norway Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase, Disney has since debuted an entire World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland, and a new Frozen subsection at Tokyo DisneySea’s Fantasy Springs. Yet another Frozen land is also coming to Disneyland Paris in 2026.

From tomorrow, however, Disney’s Frozen empire is losing a member.

Disney Prepares to Close Frozen Ride

As of May 8, Tokyo DisneySea’s Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey will be off limits to all guests for three weeks.

The attraction puts a unique spin on the model of Frozen Ever After found at EPCOT and Hong Kong Disneyland. Lasting for a full 6.5 minutes, the attraction is arguably the best of the three iterations found worldwide. Not to mention, it boasts a killer queue.

Disney describes the ride as follows:

Guests board a boat and experience the world from the Disney Animation film Frozen. Here, they can enjoy the epic and heartwarming adventure of two sisters whose love for each other saves the kingdom of Arendelle from eternal winter, accompanied by the original film’s well-known songs.

From tomorrow, the ride will be closed for a full three weeks as Disney carries out routine maintenance. That leaves Fantasy Springs with three attractions: Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival, Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure, and Fairy Tinker Bell’s Busy Buggies.

Having recently visited the Japanese theme park, we can attest to the fact that this ride is wildly popular. Despite visiting Tokyo DisneySea on a full day of torrential rain, the ride rarely dipped below a 100-minute wait time, with its queue closed to regular, non-Premier Access (the park’s paid equivalent to Lightning Lanes or FastPass) guests long before the park’s official closure time.

Tomorrow marks the ride’s first closure since it first opened last June. Another flagpole attraction at Fantasy Springs is also slated to close for a similar period later this year; Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival will temporarily close from August 27 to September 16.
