Disney Destiny Floats Out at Meyer Werft Shipyard in Germany
This afternoon, at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, the newest addition to Disney Cruise Line’s fleet, the Disney Destiny, made her grand debut on the water. The float-out was marked with daylight fireworks, a colorful spectacle chosen to shimmer against the bright afternoon sun.
First Full Look at the Ship’s Details
This was the first time for the guests to see the Disney Destiny’s completed exterior. The ship’s bold navy hull, bright red funnels, and custom artwork immediately drew attention, with many spectators taking photos to capture the milestone moment.
Continuing Disney Cruise Line’s tradition of giving each vessel a unique identity, the Disney Destiny embraces a “Heroes and Villains” theme. The design celebrates legendary characters and their epic showdowns from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel stories.
Spider-Man Steals the Spotlight
At the stern, Marvel’s Spider-Man takes center stage, surrounded by playful Spider-Bots that appear to be crawling along the hull — a dynamic touch that brings the ship’s theme to life.
The stern artwork instantly became the focal point of the float-out. Spider-Man’s heroic pose and the swarm of Spider-Bots added an action-packed, lighthearted energy to the sleek ship. Seeing these intricate details up close for the first time gave guests a taste of the immersive storytelling that awaits on board.
On Course for Her Maiden Voyage
With the complete float-out, the Disney Destiny will undergo sea trials, interior finishing, and final preparations before crossing the Atlantic. Guests won’t have to wait long to step aboard, the ship is scheduled to embark on her maiden voyage on November 20, 2025, sailing from Florida’s Port Everglades.
With its Marvel magic, bold theme, and unmistakable Disney design, the Disney Destiny is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated new cruise experiences of the year.
